The Attractions Mechanic at Walt Disney World is responsible for maintaining the parks' rides and attractions, ensuring guests have a positive experience. This involves preventative and corrective maintenance, responding to trouble tickets, performing daily checks, and handling equipment startup/shutdown. The role requires working from elevated platforms and confined spaces. Responsibilities include repairing gearbox assemblies, replacing bearings, working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and handling restraint systems and brake/wheel assemblies. The mechanic will interpret schematics and blueprints and utilize various tools and equipment. The position demands excellent communication skills and proficiency in standard software.

The Attraction Mechanic is more than just a modern day maintenance worker. The Attraction Mechanic is responsible for keeping our parks and attractions in full repair so our Guests get the full enjoyment of our Parks and Resorts. Our first-class shops put efficiency, productivity and concern for the safety of our mechanics front-and-center. Our Attraction Mechanics don’t just perform preventative maintenance, they respond to trouble tickets within a theme park setting too. This is a field service position that may include work from elevated platforms and confined spaces throughout the Walt Disney World Parks and Resort property.

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $28.45 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of ride and show mechanical assets or equipment
  • Respond promptly to trouble tickets at a park or attraction
  • Perform daily checks, startup or shutdown sequencing of a ride
  • Cast members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Experience with practices involving millwright mechanical work
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a qualified maintenance mechanic
  • Practical experience in repair, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
  • Experience working on but not limited to gearbox assemblies, bearing replacement, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, restraint systems, brake and wheel assemblies
  • Possess the ability to interpret schematics and prints
  • Use blueprints to verify dimensions, materials, components, and specifications
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience troubleshooting ride and show mechanical elements
