Hogarth is seeking a creative and independent Audio Engineer to manage the audio component within a multi-discipline post-production environment. This role involves executing both creative and technical responsibilities throughout the post-production lifecycle, applying broad knowledge of workflow and best practices. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and committed to creative excellence, working collaboratively with the audio engineering staff.
Must have:
  • Record, edit, mix, and sound design audio for video.
  • Edit and rearrange music tracks from provided stems.
  • Demonstrate expertise in delivery formats and platform destinations, including final QC.
  • Manage client expectations and uphold creative integrity.
  • Communicate closely with Producers for timely project delivery.
  • Facilitate archival of critical client data.
  • Troubleshoot problems and describe issues to tech teams.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and post staff.
  • Minimum 5 years experience with Digidesign Pro Tools and associated plug-ins.
  • Proficiency in Soundminer, MPEG streamclip, Source Connect, and audio/video chat software.
  • Knowledge of stereo and 5.1 mixing techniques.
  • Understanding of audio standards, specs, and formats.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of musical forms and arrangement.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Audio Production or equivalent experience.
Good to have:
  • Working knowledge and use of Social Media platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook).
  • Understanding of binaural audio.
  • Understanding of object-based audio.

Who we want:

A creative independent thinker to handle the Audio component in a multi-discipline post-production powerhouse, you will be tasked with understanding and executing both creative and technical responsibilities in the post-production lifecycle. We expect you to not only know the hows of the job, but even more importantly learn the why’s, as you apply your broad knowledge of workflow and best practice excellence across a myriad of complex job types and milestones. We expect you to be comfortable working collaboratively with the whole audio engineering staff sharing projects in our unique workflow.

Applicants with high attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple tasks at once without letting vital team communications slip through the cracks, and an interest in continually contributing to the creative excellence we strive for. We need proactive thinkers who give honest feedback and strive for greatness. Sense of humor a must!

What they’ll have to do:

  • Rec, edit, mix and sound design audio for video for multiple formats
  • Edit and rearrange music tracks from provided stems
  • Demonstrate expertise in delivery formats and platform destinations, including final QC
  • Manage client expectations while upholding the creative integrity of the piece
  • Maintain a close circle of comms with Producers to ensure timely delivery of projects
  • Spearhead project wrap efforts to facilitate archival of critical client data
  • Know how to troubleshoot a problem and describe an issue clearly to post tech teams
  • Comfortable working both on-site and remotely
  • Work Collaboratively with other engineers and post staff

What they should know:

  • 5 years minimum experience using Digidesign Pro Tools and associated plug-ins and templates as well as Soundminer, MPEG streamclip, Source Connect, and audio/video chat software( zoom)
  • Mixing techniques for stereo and 5.1 projects
  • Audio standards, specs & formats (Loudness Levels, frame rates, codecs, etc.)
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge and use of Social Media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook a plus
  • Bonus points for those with understanding of binaural and object based audio.
  • Working knowledge of musical forms and arrangement

Education

Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Audio Production or other equivalent related work experience.
