Job Description

This role is for a Backend Software Engineer focusing on Insights, Benchmarks, and Narratives at Google. Responsibilities include writing product/system development code, participating in design reviews, code review, contributing to documentation, and troubleshooting system issues. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (Master's or PhD preferred) and 2+ years of experience with data structures and algorithms, along with experience in C/C++, C#, Java, Python, or Go. Experience with Google systems/libraries is also required. The role involves working on projects critical to Google's needs, requiring versatility and leadership in a fast-paced environment. The engineer will contribute to the development and improvement of Google's products and services by building robust and scalable backend systems.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
Experience with Google systems/libraries
Proficiency in C/C++, C#, Java, Python, or Go
Code writing, design reviews, debugging

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in CS or related field
Experience developing accessible technologies
Data analytics or A/B testing experience
Knowledge of Google Ad products

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
Experience with standard Google systems/libraries.
Experience with software development in C/C++, C#, Java, Python or Go.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Experience with data analytics or online experimentation via A/B testing.
Knowledge of the Google Ad products.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
