Job Description

As a Backend Software Engineering Intern, you will solve technical challenges and contribute to the backend of the Ads platform. You will work on optimizing performance, enhancing infrastructure, and creating solutions in the ad tech industry. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems, collaborating with engineering teams, and influencing product roadmaps. The systems handle billions of ad requests daily and involve mediation platforms and header bidding solutions. You will work on high-availability low-latency systems distributed across multiple data centers. This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to key products like MAX and AppDiscovery, optimizing ad placements and maximizing revenue.

Must have:

Junior level student in Fall 2025
Knowledge of computer science fundamentals
Experience with Java

Previous Software Engineering Internships
Non-academic coding experience

A Day in the Life

As a member of our Backend Software Engineering Team, you’ll solve technical challenges, including upgrading and implementing state-of-the-art software infrastructure. Our team is responsible for the backend of the Ads platform, managing key products that drive mobile app monetization and advertiser management. We own and maintain critical products such as:

MAX: A leading mobile app monetization platform that helps app developers optimize ad placements and maximize revenue.

AppDiscovery: A comprehensive solution for advertisers to efficiently acquire users and optimize their ad campaigns.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to high-scale systems that handle billions of ad requests daily, focusing on optimizing performance, enhancing infrastructure, and creating innovative solutions in the dynamic ad tech industry

Our backend systems handle billions of requests per day, and work on our mediation platform responsible for our header bidding solution, creating high-availability low-latency systems that are distributed across multiple data centers.

The Impact You’ll Make

Design, develop, and maintain large-scale distributed systems
Collaborate with various engineering teams to meet a wide range of technological challenges
Work closely with our product team to contribute and influence the roadmap of our products and technologies
Influence and inspire team members

Who You Are

You are a Junior level student in Fall 2025 (and are currently working towards earning a BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field)
Have knowledge of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and coding
Experience with Java, nice to have Scala

Additional Strengths:

Have experience building highly scalable, low latency systems
Previous Software Engineering Internships
Non-academic coding experience (i.e. hackathons, code challenges, personal projects, GitHub, Open Source, etc.)
Understanding of software development life cycle
