Job Description

The Disneyland Resort seeks a skilled Carpenter to build, manufacture, and detail permanent and temporary displays across the entire resort, including parks and hotels. Responsibilities include constructing and repairing structures using wood, plywood, and wallboard; utilizing hand and power tools; adhering to building codes; creating props and sets; installing windows and doors; performing finish carpentry; and erecting scaffolding. The ideal candidate possesses strong blueprint reading skills, accurate measurement abilities, and experience with various fastening techniques. Experience with 3-D design and show-support item fabrication is vital. Night and weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities:

At Disneyland® Resort, as a Carpenter, you will:

  • Construct, erect installs, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard
  • Use carpenter’s hand tools and power tools
  • Conform to local building codes and regulations
  • Build props and sets, framing, hanging windows and doors, decorations, locks, floor work, cutting material, shaping material, stripping and treating material, preparation of work surfaces, and other tasks expected of the trade

Basic Qualifications:

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this role
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings to extract information such as material requirements and structure dimensions
  • Strong ability to perform layout preparation using measurement tools with the ability to accurately mark materials for cutting and assembly
  • Fastening materials accurately with nails, dowel pins, screws, bolts, or glue
  • Assemble of framework for structures including the laying of subflooring, building stairs, and laying out and installing partitions and cabinet work.
  • Fitting and installation of window frames, doors, door framing, weather stripping, trim and finish hardware (locks, kick plates, etc…)
  • Erection of scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
  • Proven understanding of the design and fabrication of props and other show-support items within budget and time constraints
  • Proven understanding of 3-D design methods
  • Design of specialty windows and other show props/sets to build themed show items
  • Vital understanding of the safety components of all tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Level Carpenter with demonstrable experience of 5 years or more
  • Previous Painting experience

Additional Information:

SCHEDULE AVAILABILITY
Capable to work overnights and overtime when needed for installation purposes.
Shifts are typically at night, and individuals must have availability to work Sunday through Saturday, any shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) including holidays, and must be open to any days off.

The pay rate for this role in California is $34.32 to $43.68 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
