The Cell New Product Introduction (NPI) team in Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg seeks a motivated professional to drive the introduction of new cell manufacturing products and processes. The role involves supporting NPI & engineering teams throughout product introduction phases, managing multiple projects, communicating results, and collaborating with production teams. Responsibilities include executing NPI trial plans, recording data, escalating issues, working with various teams, using MFS and JIRA systems, performing material handling and audits, and adhering to safety procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-volume manufacturing (battery cell manufacturing preferred), new product/process launches, and working with detailed documentation and specialized equipment. Proficiency in German and English is required.

The Cell New Product Introduction (NPI) team in Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg is looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional to help drive the introduction of new products and processes for cell manufacturing. Cell manufacturing requires a high degree of precision and reliability, and the key to sustained success and scalability is a robust new product introduction process. The NPI technician will be involved in the launch of new projects/programs that will be introduced to the cell manufacturing process. The NPI Technician will support the NPI engineering trials, working closely with production team to execute and manage trial based on NPI/Engineering plan, spanning across all areas of cell production process steps.
What You’ll Do- Support NPI & Engineering team during all phases of product introduction (launch and sustaining)
- Be comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously, interacting with multiple teams and conducting decisions to solve priority tasks
- Communicate test results, ideas, and problems to supervisor and engineers, able to be part of the solution
- Possess an understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Coach and effectively lead production teams through launches/cut over
- Execute NPI trial plan in cell manufacturing line or pilot line
- Record trial data, process parameters, trial material ID. Escalate build issues through the proper channels and group until resolution. Communicate the learnings after
- Work with other engineers/production supervisors/production associates to execute the plan
- Use MFS system to track and monitor trial progress
- Follow safety procedures and perform NPI material handling, do material audit on the floor
- Perform test procedures, create JIRA tickets to request test resources
- Support all NPI activities and use JIRA tickets & PCA notes to track and update on all activities
- Learn each of the manufacturing process areas to understand trial/cutover impacts
- Technician in mechanical, electrical or mechatronics training or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing environment (Battery cell manufacturing experience is a plus)
- Experience in new product/process launches
- Experience in working from complex and detailed manufacturing documentation, drawings, and/or verbal and written instructions and specialized fixtures/test equipment.
- Experience in working independently once a task is assigned, make connections with other team members, work fluidly with the team to achieve great results.
- Language skills: German & English (Verbal & Written)
