Job Description

NewRich is a growing startup providing e-learning, turn-key solutions, and mentorship for digital entrepreneurs with a hybrid SaaS + educational platform + social network. They are seeking a Cloud DevOps Lead to manage their AWS cloud infrastructure. Responsibilities include provisioning and scaling AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, etc.), maintaining uptime via CloudWatch and Auto Scaling, and using Infrastructure as Code tools. The role also involves managing security operations (IAM, MFA, least privilege, secrets management, WAF, Shield, GuardDuty, Macie), networking (VPC, DNS, Route 53, ALB/NLB), user identity management, backup and disaster recovery, compliance and logging (CloudTrail, Config), and documentation of system configurations and procedures. Experience in a fast-paced startup environment is mandatory, and applicants from the GTA are preferred for this hybrid role.

Must Have:
  • Manage AWS cloud infrastructure

  • Configure VPC subnet, peering, routing, NATs, IGWs
  • Optimize latency and routing (e.g., Route 53 geolocation + failover)
  • Maintain AWS IAM Identity Center
  • Configure automated backups for RDS, DynamoDB, S3
  • Ensure DR plans exist and are tested
  • Maintain audit logs via CloudTrail, Config, and centralized logging
  • Coordinate for PII tagging, data retention, and encryption
  • Maintain living architecture diagrams
  • Keep detailed runbooks for incident response
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup is mandatory

We are currently looking for someone to take over managing our AWS cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

1. Cloud Resource Management

  • Provision, monitor, and scale EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, CloudFront, etc.
  • Maintain uptime via CloudWatch alarms, Auto Scaling Groups, and Health Checks
  • Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to version infrastructure

2. Security Operations

  • Manage IAM roles, policies, SCPs (via AWS Organizations)
  • Implement security best practices:
    • MFA for admin users
    • Principle of least privilege
    • Secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager, Parameter Store)
  • Set up and monitor WAF, Shield, GuardDuty, Macie
  • Conduct regular penetration testing coordination and vulnerability patching

3. Networking & DNS

  • VPC subnet configuration, peering, routing, NATs, IGWs
  • Monitor latency and optimize routing (e.g., Route 53 geolocation + failover)
  • Configure private/public subnets for appropriate service exposure
  • Handle load balancer issues (ALB/NLB)

4. User Identity & Permissions Management

  • Maintain AWS IAM Identity Center
  • Set up cross-account role assumption for devs/admins

5. Backup & Disaster Recovery

  • Configure automated backups for RDS, DynamoDB, S3 (versioning, replication)
  • Ensure DR plans exist and are tested (e.g., failover to a different region)
  • Implement and document Recovery Point Objectives and Recovery Time Objectives

6. Compliance & Logging

  • Maintain audit logs via CloudTrail, Config, and centralized logging
  • Coordinate with engineering for PII tagging, data retention policies, and data encryption at rest/in transit

7. Documentation of System Configuration & Procedures

  • Maintain living architecture diagrams
  • Keep detailed runbooks for incident response, security breaches, scaling events, or failovers
