Job Description

The Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer, Data role at Google involves providing 24/7 support to customers transitioning to Google Cloud. Responsibilities include troubleshooting technical problems, debugging, networking, system administration, documentation updates, coding/scripting, identifying root causes, improving supportability, and collaborating with engineers and product managers. The role requires fluent English and Korean communication, as it's customer-facing. You'll work with a global team, sometimes requiring non-standard hours, and advocate for customer needs with cross-functional teams to improve products and processes. The goal is to ensure seamless transitions and swift issue resolution for Google Cloud Platform customers.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years software development experience (Python, C++, Java, etc.)
  • Experience debugging multi-node environments
  • Fluent English and Korean communication
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • AI/ML tools and model usage experience
  • Experience with distributed databases or data processing frameworks
  • Data analytics, warehousing, ETL, or Big Data experience
  • Machine learning technologies (TensorFlow) experience
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, Unix/Linux, and client-server protocols

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript), including application of data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience debugging workload issues across multi-node environments.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Korean fluently as it is a customer-facing role that requires interactions in English and Korean.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with AI/ML tools and usage of models that are readily available to meet business needs.
  • Experience with distributed, columnar or analytic oriented databases, or distributed data processing frameworks.
  • Experience in data analytics, warehousing, ETL development, data science, or other Big Data applications.
  • Experience with machine learning technologies (e.g., Tensorflow), developing or training models, or implementing solutions that evoke such models.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP concepts, Unix/Linux basic administration and commands from Kernel to Shell, file systems, and client-server protocols.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, and communication skills in a fast-paced setting.

In this role, you will be a part of a global team that provides 24x7 support to help customers seamlessly make the switch to Google Cloud. When customers cannot resolve issues themselves, you will ensure that we have the necessary tools and processes to swiftly resolve the issue with as little customer effort as possible. You will troubleshoot technical problems for customers with a mix of debugging, networking, system administration, updating documentation, and when needed, coding/scripting. You will identify the root problem and improve supportability by working with a team of engineers and product managers. You will make our products easier to adopt and use by making improvements to the product, tools, processes, and documentation. You will help drive the success of Google Cloud by understanding and advocating for our customers issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the customer’s problems through effective diagnosis, resolution, or implementation of new investigation tools to increase productivity for customer issues on Google Cloud Platform products.
  • Develop knowledge of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for faster diagnosis.
  • Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
  • Understand customer issues and advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams, including product and engineering teams to find ways to improve the product and drive high-quality production.
  • Work as part of a team of Engineers/Consultants that globally ensure 24 hour customer support. This will include a need to sometimes work non-standard work hours or shifts.
