Job Description

Nubank is a digital banking platform seeking a Compliance Expert to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. The role involves analyzing new rules, assessing business unit action plans, managing activities, and collaborating with internal teams. Responsibilities include providing regulatory analysis for new products, detecting anomalies, preparing training, and responding to supervisor inquiries. The Compliance Expert will also contribute to governance by reporting to senior management and connecting with the Global Compliance team. The position requires supervising other team members as a tech lead.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, or related fields
  • 10+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, financial products, or risk management
  • No Legal background
  • Strong interpretation and logical thinking skills
  • Ability to summarize rule changes
  • Experience in testing
  • Experience in structuring and measuring KPIs/KRIs
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent English

  • JIRA, automation, queries, SQL, or other programming languages

About the team

The Compliance team has an important mission at Nubank: ensure that we are compliant with applicable regulations. That means we need to understand both the regulation and our business, so we can act in a true partnership with our internal clients, and not only be a distributor of new rules. Our team should help with the interpretation of regulations, and definition of action plans as well as monitoring and testing their implementation. 

Also, the team is responsible for mapping and quantifying regulatory risks of existing products/processes in order to properly manage them, providing a safe environment to support the decision-making process and the sustainability of Nubank.

As a Compliance Expert , you're expected to:

  • Performing deep analysis of new rules and understand their impacts, being hungry to go after information and knowledge by himself/herself;
  • Assessing and challenging the action plans defined by business units and monitor their implementation;
  • Managing activities and prioritization to meet internal and regulatory deadlines;
  • Connecting and maintaining good relationship with different teams, being able to negotiate deadlines;
  • Being assertive and objective when writing and presenting regulatory matters (advisories and tracking);
  • Supporting the business areas, assisting in decision making, considering the applicable term;
  • Providing regulatory analysis in the approval flow of new products, services, or features;
  • Supporting prevention and detection of anomalies that may result in regulatory gaps;
  • Preparing and presenting training related to compliance matters;
  • Monitoring, coordinating,  and answering inquiries and inspections from the different supervisors.
  • Following the governance of regulatory issues to senior management, either through Compliance Forum, Risk Committees, etc
  • Connecting with Global Compliance team and following the Compliance methodology 
  • Supervising as a tech lead the other Compliance team members

We are looking for a Compliance  Expert, who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business management or related fields
  • Previous exposure to activities related to regulatory compliance, financial products/services regulatory matters and/or risk management/NFR in a financial or tech company or Consulting firm for at least 10 years;
  • No Legal background (to complement existing team's profile)
  • Interpretation and strong logical thinking;
  • Ability to summarize the main changes/to-do's of a new rule;
  • Experience in testing 
  • Experience working in structuring and measuring KPIs/KRIs, presenting information in dashboards and reports format
  • Excellent communication skills: structured and objective - to liaise with senior management
  • Negotiation and prioritization skills   
  • Fluent English.
  • JIRA, automation, queries, SQL, or other programming languages (to extract and manipulate data) would be a plus
