Job Description

This internship at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park or Animal Kingdom Lodge focuses on conservation education. Interns will mentor other interns, support on-stage operations using interpretive techniques, implement projects to improve guest experiences, and interact with guests through various activities. The role requires a passion for wildlife conservation, public engagement experience, and leadership skills. Prior experience in a Disney program is mandatory. The internship runs from June 2025 to January 2026.

About the Role & Program:

Make an impact in the field of Conservation Education by supporting a frontline team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! Work side-by-side with our Education Coordinators to build meaningful Guest experiences focused on conservation and culture.

The approximate dates of this internship are June 2025 - January 2026.

What You Will Do:

On a typical day in this internship, you will…

  • Mentor a team of Education Presenter interns and International Cultural Representatives.
  • Support onstage operations through active communication, problem-solving and a proven understanding of interpretive techniques.
  • Get results by coordinating and implementing a variety of projects striven to sustain and improve the existing Guest experience.
  • Interact with Guests through Magical Moments, formal presentations and one-on-one interactions!

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven passion for wildlife conservation and conservation education.
  • Prior experience engaging with the public in a learning setting (i.e. zoo, aquarium, museum, science center or classroom).
  • 3 months of formal or informal leadership experience.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • MUST have participated in an Animals, Science and Environment Professional Internship OR Walt Disney World College Program prior to applying.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to operate a company vehicle under inclement weather, including minimal lighting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience working with a multi-cultural team or in an international setting.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Formal facilitation experience.
  • Ability to speak more than one language.

Education:

  • Junior or Senior year preferred
  • Major or previous coursework in Life or Environmental Sciences, Biology, Zoology, Education, Recreation, Communications or related field

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:

  • Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements: 
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. 
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants:  You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.  
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Be compliant with appearance guidelines
  • Be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • Fully available for the duration of the internship (approximately 40 hours each week)
  • Have reliable transportation to/from work

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $23.50 per hour.
