Job Description

As a Consultant, you will be supporting Operations Infrastructure and representing HCL in customers' control centers, providing support to software and infrastructure. This on-site role requires presence approximately three days a week and involves participation in an on-call rota. Key responsibilities include managing hardware, software, and user faults within predefined SLAs, performing root cause analysis, maintaining high-level server security, and applying ITIL processes. The role also involves building and migrating physical and virtual servers, with a strong focus on problem-solving and customer service.
Must have:
  • Knowledge of RHEL 7.x, 8, and 9
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems from 2016 to 2022
  • Experience in Redhat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform
  • Excellent experience in day-to-day BAU task and queue management
  • ITIL process implementation throughout server administration
Good to have:
  • Citrix 7.15 or above, PVS or NetScaler
  • Microsoft System Center Orchestrator (Scorch)
  • PowerShell
  • CyberArk
  • IT Service Now
  • SQL, NetBackup, Rubrik
  • Windows 2016 2019, Oracle

Role definition

You will support Operations Infrastructure and represent HCL in customers control centers, solving issues and providing support to the software and infrastructure at these sites.

This role requires an onsite presence for approximately 3 days a week and is subject to change depending on client requirements & this role will be part of an on-call Rota.

Location: Reading, Havant, Perth (Scotland). Ability to commute/relocate: Reading, Havant, Perth (Scotland) Perth: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Expected qualification and critical experiences –

  • BAU engineer based on customer sites to support critical national infrastructure services.
  • Perform queue-based hardware, software and user fault management within predefined SLAs
  • Out of hours support rota once trained
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a pressurized environment
  • Some hybrid working available
  • Good customer service skills

Mandatory Skills and Certification:

  • Knowledge of RHEL 7.x, 8 and 9
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems from 2016 to 2022
  • Experience in Redhat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform
  • Excellent experience in day-to-day BAU task and queue management.
  • Working on root cause analysis (Problem Management) and maintains high level security for servers.
  • Keep the servers with industry security standards,
  • Apply ITIL process throughout the lifecycle of server administration and implementations (Incident, Change, Problem Management)
  • Experience in Building and migrating Physical and Virtual servers (Hyper-V and VMware)

Mandate Requirement:

  • Driving license essential
  • Must meet requirements to become SC cleared

Desirable Skills:
