Job Description
As a Daily Soap Writer for SoapCentral.com, a leading soap opera content destination, you'll produce 3-4 engaging articles daily. Your responsibilities include insightful analysis of popular soap operas like General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, monitoring daily controversies and social media trends, pitching story ideas, and meeting deadlines. You'll need to be a dedicated soap opera enthusiast with excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently. The role requires at least two years of experience in entertainment reporting, a strong understanding of industry terms, and a proven track record in breaking entertainment news. This contract position is remote and open to US-based applicants only.

As a daily soap writer, your role involves consistently producing written content that delves into scripted content, writing features, and news pieces regularly. You will be responsible for creating engaging features and news articles focused on popular soap operas such as General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Days of Our Lives. It’s essential that you stay dedicated to closely following these soaps, keeping up-to-date with their storylines and controversies. Your ability to provide insightful analysis, capture the drama, and connect with the passionate fan base of these series is crucial for this role.
Key
Responsibilities
- Write 3-4 articles a day.
- Provide insightful analysis of the unfolding drama.
- Monitor day-to-day controversies and news centering on the shows, keep tabs on social media trends, and become familiar with Google Trends.
- Pitch interesting story ideas.
- Open to feedback from the editorial team.
- Able to meet deadlines, available for real-time coverage of off-field angles when they’re pushed out
- Ensure timely delivery of content to meet publication schedules
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English/ Journalism/ Mass communication is preferred.
- Has at least 2 years of experience in entertainment reporting.
- Understands industry terms and has previous success in breaking entertainment reporting.
- Applicants must be avid daily soap enthusiasts.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
