Job Description

A Project Manager at MUFG IS is an influential change agent/trusted advisor with business and technology stakeholders, driving and implementing organizational priorities that add value. Project Managers play a key role in the projects’ early initiation phase (i.e., business case development) to the structuring of the project, and implementation and hand off to BAU. To be effective in their role, Project Managers must be resourceful, strong relationship managers, bring a blend of strong execution expertise and business knowledge, be adept at mitigating and managing risk, and have excellent communication, impact/influence and facilitation abilities. They direct and control a variety of projects throughout a global organization, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery using best practices.
Must have:
  • Ensure successful, timely and effective delivery of change projects
  • Develop project plans, budgets and schedules, manage tasks and teams on the project’s critical path
  • Responsible for scope control with stakeholders, task execution with the project team and relevant upward communication to managers and senior stakeholders
  • Helps define process improvements and feedback for the project, including any strategies required for timely execution
  • Gather or track the completion of necessary artifacts required for development of each project, including but not limited to risk assessments, technical architecture drawings, requirements, design specifications, testing, change plans, etc.
  • Provide feedback to project stakeholders, including specification feedback, issue escalation to managers or scope changes/clarifications to project resources
  • Update relevant project information and work across all departments to deliver projects that align to the organization's strategic vision
  • Assess and manage risks and issues, take corrective measures
  • Guard the viability of the vision and the business case
  • Flexibility to attend to urgent matters outside of normal business hours if/when needed
Good to have:
  • Experience of delivering Regulatory projects
  • Experience with Agile, Lean, Waterfall, hybrid and other project management methodologies
  • Experience with Smartsheets, Jira, Confluence project management tools
  • Certified or studying towards a relevant professional Project Management certification (PMP, Scrum/Agile certificates)

Project Managers play a key role in the projects’ early initiation phase (i.e., business case development) to the structuring of the project, and implementation and hand off to BAU. To be effective in their role, Project Managers must

(1) be resourceful and be strong relationship managers; Building strong working relationships with the project and organizational stakeholders at every level of the organization must be second nature,

(2) Bring a blend of strong execution expertise and business knowledge,

(3) be adept at mitigating and managing risk,

(4) have excellent communication, impact/influence and facilitation abilities.

As a member of the Projects Department, the Project Manager reports to a Projects Lead. In their day to day, the Project Manager directs and controls a variety of projects throughout a global organization, ensuring that the projects are delivered on time, within budget using project management best practices to ensure the highest level of quality. Also key is implementing effective governance throughout the project lifecycle and managing the day-to-day execution aspects of the projects – Plan, budget, RAID, Resource and Status Updates - to ensure project objectives are achieved. Project Managers also provide portfolio and resource planning and reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

This is a hybrid role, requiring the successful candidate to attend the office two days a week.
