Responsibilities include driving creative strategies, ensuring brand consistency, overseeing visual elements for game designs and store décor, and leading innovative marketing campaigns. The director also manages the marketing team, hiring, training, and conducting performance assessments, supporting international growth. A strong background in design, communication, storytelling, and digital marketing is essential, along with experience directing creative development for multi-channel campaigns and managing high-volume projects.

The Creative Director leads a multi-disciplinary team across graphic design, videography, social media, digital marketing, and website management. Reporting to the Vice President, Insights & Customer Loyalty and serving on the Senior Leadership Team, this role combines hands-on work with strategic leadership. 

As a senior leader, the Creative Director is directly involved in creating marketing content and executing campaigns alongside their team. They lead creative direction, ensure brand consistency, and play a key role in the company’s overall marketing strategy.


The Duties and Responsibilities:


Global Marketing

  

  • Oversee end-to-end creative production - both copy and design - from brief through final delivery and performance evaluation.
  • Help lead and manage in-house and external teams in creative strategy, execution, and production, in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Manage and refine the work coming in from agencies, external teams, and contractors.
  • Partner with marketing teams to co-develop creative briefs, translating marketing objectives into creative direction.
  • Work with stakeholders to break down complex narratives into simple, compelling ideas.
  • Ensure final creative concepts and deliverables align with the creative brief and adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Increase brand awareness through development and implementation of a cohesive marketing plan, ensuring development and implementation aligns with Activate’s short-term and long-term objectives for global expansion


Art Direction

  • Drive creative strategies, foster partnerships, and promote innovation to enhance brand visibility and engagement across various markets
  • Oversee the creation of visual elements for new game designs
  • Lead the creation of interior décor for our store locations
  • Oversee the conceptualization and execution of innovative marketing campaigns to differentiate Activate from competitors


People Leadership

  • Serve as a leader, mentor and team member: directing, inspiring and doing
  • Hire and organize training for all members within the marketing team
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of the creative staff and manage the production of a full range of marketing materials, from draft creation through the final product, to support the goals of the organization
  • Develop the people infrastructure for the marketing team to support international growth
  • Manage performance of employees, including accountability coaching and development
  • Conduct checkpoints and performance assessments, as well as create development plans for staff

 

The Qualifications:


  • Degree in a related field is required
  • 7+ years of with strong background in design, communication, storytelling, and creative for top-tier brands through breakthrough visual or experiential design and creativity, with strong digital savvy.
  • 5+ years of experience directing the creative development of performance marketing assets for multi-channel campaigns, including social, email, display, web, and events.
  • Proven history of “leveling up” creative teams by identifying opportunities to improve.
  • Hands-on mentality, with the ability to balance high-level strategy with direct involvement in day-to-day tasks.
  • Experience collaborating with sales teams to create materials and strategies that align with business goals.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and execute flawlessly on projects in a fast-paced, often pressured environment and see a project through to completion
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite), digital marketing platforms (Google Analytics, social media management tools), and website management systems.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with all levels of employees is critical
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with strong writing and editorial abilities
  • Ability to travel occasionally, up to 25% of the time
