Job Description

The Data Center Management Network Engineer at Google designs and manages data center networks, acting as an SRE for a set of networks. Responsibilities encompass the entire network lifecycle – from initial design and validation to deployment, operation, and optimization. This role requires scaling systems through automation, improving reliability and velocity, and collaborating with various teams to analyze requirements, develop solutions, and provide policy recommendations. The engineer will partner with internal application groups to design network infrastructure meeting their needs. Experience with network routing protocols, design, troubleshooting, and Python coding is essential. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for distributed systems and excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent
3+ years network routing protocol experience
Python coding experience
Network design and troubleshooting expertise
Collaboration and problem-solving skills

Good to have:

5+ years experience in service provider or hyperscale network
Experience developing networking products/technologies
Experience coordinating with various teams

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
3 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
Experience coding using Python.

Preferred qualifications:

5 years of experience with a service provider or hyperscale network in engineering or design roles.
Experience developing networking products, technologies, software and protocols.
Ability to coordinate with various teams to understand partner teams requirements and deliver designs based on those.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Passion for designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Design data center management networks and act as SRE for a set of networks.
Engage in and improve the whole life-cycle of networks including inception and design, qualification and validation, deployment, operation, and optimization.
Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
Work with other team members and groups to analyze requirements or potential problems and develop solutions and policy recommendations.
Partner with Google’s internal application groups and design network infrastructure which meets their networking requirements.
