Job Description

The Data Center Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Cooling, collaborates with operations, execution, and construction teams to develop data center mechanical infrastructure products and systems. Responsibilities include innovating next-generation mechanical systems, contributing to new technology insertions, creating system-level designs, preparing various documentation (SOWs, engineering reports, FMEAs, design documents, etc.), and working with internal and external designers to refine mechanical designs. The role requires expertise in industrial cooling systems, software like MATLAB or AFT Fathom, and experience in piping system design and analysis. The candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of environmentally-friendly and efficient data center facilities.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years experience in industrial cooling systems
  • 2+ years experience with design software (MATLAB, Cadence CFD, etc.)
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • System design and documentation
Good to have:
  • Experience in piping system design and hydraulic modeling
  • Experience with fuel oil, water treatment, and chemical treatment systems
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, AFT Fathom, Bentley AutoPIPE
  • CFD experience (Cadence DC Design Pro, Ansys, Fluent)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in developing industrial cooling systems.
  • 2 years of experience working with one of the following softwares (e.g., MATLAB, Cadence CFD, AFT Fathom, or Bentley AutoPIPE).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in piping system design including pipe stress analysis and hydraulic modeling.
  • Experience in fuel oil systems, water treatment systems, and chemical treatment systems.
  • Experience working with Matlab/Simulink, Python, AFT Fathom, and/or Bentley Auto PIPE.
  • Experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with one or more of the following programs (e.g., Cadence DC Design Pro or Ansys or Fluent).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the operations, execution, and construction teams to develop data center (DC) mechanical infrastructure products and systems.
  • Innovate and develop next generation mechanical system products to meet company long term strategies.
  • Contribute to new technology insertions through collaboration with the core engineering teams during development, and create system level concept and schematics designs, and carry through to detailed designs.
  • Provide and prepare all types of documents including, statement of work, engineering analysis and reports, FMEAC (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), design documents, product specifications, drawings, budget, schedule, and commissioning test plans.
  • Work with internal architect, mechanical, electrical, and telecom designers to refine mechanical designs based on analysis and provide recommendations to external consultants.
