Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with 283 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The reach of Netflix and the fandom we create fuels the “Netflix effect” - a virtuous cycle of great content and intense fandom that catapults our stories into the cultural conversation. Netflix influences what people around the world and , the they listen to, the they read, the , and how they

Our marketing efforts help to kick start the Netflix effect, and we are providing more and more ways for fans to engage with our stores: , events like and , and the launch in 2025 of the first two locations.

Netflix is a data-driven company, and we are looking for an experienced and innovative leader to build and lead a team of data engineers to support our marketing and fandom activities around the world. The team’s  opportunity for impact is enormous: Netflix social media channels generate more than 100B impressions a year, we are expanding fandom into the real world, and we’ve barely scratched the surface of the data available to support these activities.

What have you done and what do you know?

  • You have at least 5 years of experience leading data engineering teams.

  • You have an extensive hands-on background and strong technical expertise working in a data domain, and you understand how to build for scale and business impact.

  • You understand from first hand experience the mechanics of distributed systems processing,  data modeling for analytics, and data warehousing, and you have experience guiding teams to follow best practices in these domains.

  • You’ve learned through experience how to manage through a variety of challenges, and you’ve developed a clear idea of who you are as a leader, and how to successfully lead.

  • You have experience hiring, growing, and retaining strong engineering talent with various needs for personal and professional growth.

What will you do?

  • Build and lead a team of stunning data engineers to execute on a shared vision between analytics, engineering, and business partners. Grow and mentor this team through a supportive mindset, thoughtful observation, and courageous, honest feedback.

  • Provide technical vision and strategy for building a data ecosystem that enables Netflix to leverage data about marketing and fandom.

  • Build strong and productive relationships across business, science, analytics, and engineering partners.

  • Balance immediate stakeholder needs with longer-term vision, always taking a best-for-Netflix approach.

  • Build strong relationships with other data engineering leaders at Netflix and contribute to our shared goals.

Who are you?

  • You read the memo and your first response was something like, “This is what I’ve wanted my whole working life!” Our ways of working are different, and you are excited to embrace the challenge of leading at Netflix and becoming a role model for our unique culture.

  • You ground your team’s direction in business needs and priorities, and view yourself as a business leader as well as a data engineering leader.

  • You effortlessly build collaborative relationships across business and engineering teams, and you understand how to have influence without authority. You get close to interpersonal problems and solve them directly, vs defaulting to escalation.

  • You have a growth mindset, and expect the same from your team. You are curious,  authentic, selfless, determined, and industrious. You generously give and receive candid feedback, to grow yourself and those around you.

  • You have strong beliefs that are weakly held: you can deliberate and hear all sides of a discussion, and adapt to new perspectives that emerge from it.

  • You enjoy working on hard problems with new tech, but what really drives you is creating levers for making a big impact for the business.

is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
