Job Description

Develops and maintains project data model for a leading software system in the Energy domain. Manages and supports databases, creating queries and stored procedures. Works closely with a customer team in Kuwait using Agile principles. Responsibilities include database performance tuning, upgrades, and security management. The role requires strong SQL skills, database design experience, and software development experience (e.g., Java/Python). Debugging, optimization of queries and procedures, and backup/recovery are also key aspects. The project involves working with large volumes of geological data for oil and gas production.

Project description

Developed product is the leading software system in Energy domain covering all aspects of Oil&Gas production from geological exploration to optimization of ongoing production. Our technology solution helps geologists and geophysicists to research, visualize and interpret large volumes of geological data.
Work supposes close cooperation with Customer team located in Kuwait and following Agile principles.

Responsibilities

Develops and maintains project data model.

Manages and supports databases including developing required queries and stored procedures

Establishes the needs of users and monitoring user access and security

Assists team with the debugging and optimization of SQL queries and stored procedures.

Ongoing database performance tuning and upgrades, including: monitoring and evaluation of all database patches and service packs

Skills

Must have

7+ years of experience implementing and managing databases

Understanding of relational databases and concepts

Good working with SQL server/Postgres

Proven experience with system analysis and database design

Proven working experience in database optimization

Experience with database backup/recovery

Good understanding of data security

Experience working in VDB design and implementation

Proven hands-on Software Development experience

Good communication with English

Good problem-solving skills

Good documentation skills

Completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or MIS

Nice to have

Experience with Java/Python and any programming language is desirable.

Experience working in big data is desirable

Data science knowledge is desirable

Certification in related tool e.g. SQL, .NET, Oracle is desirable

Flexible to travel

Chinese communication is preferred

Experience working as oil and gas domain is preferred
