Job Description

WebMD's Data Management team seeks a Database Administrator Apprentice. This role offers hands-on experience managing and supporting diverse databases (Postgres, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, InfluxDB, Vertica, Hadoop, Oracle). Responsibilities include diagnosing and solving data problems, working with large datasets, and using technologies like Java, Python, and Spark. The apprenticeship pays $20/hour for six months, leading to a full-time salaried position based on performance. Experience with SQL and JavaScript is beneficial.

Must have:

Experience with SQL and JavaScript
Proficiency in Java or Python
Familiarity with Spark projects
Problem-solving and data analysis skills

WebMD’s Data Management team is looking for a Database Administrator with a passion for data and Devops. You don’t need to be a doctor to work the data at WebMD but will be able to diagnose and solve any data problems. We support databases that can respond in milliseconds or aggregate billions of rows in seconds. We manage and support data warehouses, data lakes, data marts. Our databases include both old schools and pioneers. Postgres, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, InfluxDB, Vertica, Hadoop and Oracle are all in our territory.

This is your chance to use what you just learned in the real world. You probably coded in Java or Python, we use them. You probably had to write a Spark project; we manage them. You may stay up all night to wrap up a project with SQL or JavaScript. That’s fantastic. We need them.

As an Apprentice you will be paid $20/hr for your first 6 months and then based on performance you will be offered a full time salaried position with us.
