The Epic LiveOps team provides the best possible experience for our players. We dive deep into the data to understand player needs, minimize disruption, and manage Epic's incident response process.

What You'll Do

Epic Games is hiring a Technical Leader for LiveOps focused on building teams and systems that enable us to improve reliability for our platforms, games and online services. This is a multidisciplinary leadership role where you will lead and/or work directly with other leads, producers, program/product managers, developers, and SREs to achieve meaningful outcomes for the organization. What We Do Epic’s LiveOps team is dedicated to advocating for the experience of players, customers, and employees for Epic Games. We build services, processes, and tools to improve the reliability and resilience of our platforms, products, and internal systems. LiveOps also serves as first responders to incidents that might harm our customer experience. LiveOps' scope is company-wide and concerns every technology element at Epic. What You'll Do As the Tech Lead of Epic's LiveOps team you'll build the structures necessary to ensure we are advancing how we monitor and analyze our production systems, games, and back office systems, evolving how the company responds to critical live issues, and improving the state of our games and services to our internal stakeholders. Working closely with our game, publishing, online teams, and more, this role is in the center of our live services operating Fortnite and other Epic products. We’re looking for an individual who excels in critical service operational maturity, has superb communication abilities, and is comfortable managing the resolution of issues in a complex online ecosystem. The ideal candidate is passionate about working in games and has a long history of working with large-scale systems, live operations teams, and software development in a range of technical environments.

In this role, you will

  • Deliver and maintain dependable tooling, automation, integrations, and processes underpinning LiveOps related functions across the company and subsidiaries, encompassing Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and urgent cross-team facilitation
  • Define and Measure KPIs for your own team's performance and Epic-wide performance against strategic and operational related goals facilitated by LiveOps processes and tooling
  • Proactively identify strategic opportunities to improve operational components of the development ecosystem at Epic
  • Manage a team of engineers and analysts providing guidance, support, and mentorship to foster professional growth and development
  • Advise and guide the company in the adoption of Epic-specific and, where appropriate, industry best practices in the realm of operational maturity and critical system availability
  • Position LiveOps to provide a consistent, predictable, and measurable set of services to technical teams across the company and subsidiaries
  • Serve as a high judgment escalation point for urgent technical issues facing Epic

What we're looking for

  • Senior-level experience across the full software development lifecycle
  • Senior-level experience owning critical software and infrastructure services with rigorous uptime requirements
  • Experience in system design and operation at a global scale
  • Multiple years of experience in managing a multi-discipline engineering team
  • Ability to lead in a geographically dispersed organization
  • Experience with multi-national regulatory compliance
  • A leader in operationally focused culture development

British Columbia Base Pay Range
$233,807$342,916 CAD
