Job Description

As a Development Sr. Tester, you will work closely with scrum teams and product owners to ensure high-quality releases. You will become a Subject Matter Expert and the central contact person. Your responsibilities include contributing to test effort estimates, identifying solutions to optimize the QA process, collaborating with developers, designers, and stakeholders, participating in Scrum ceremonies, defining release criteria, performing various testing levels, communicating risks, and managing bug entry. You will also be the voice of quality, using KPIs to improve QA deliverables, and providing training assistance if needed. You'll be responsible for creating and maintaining test scripts and cases.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of gaming/software testing experience.
  • Work in an agile environment and share technical information.
  • Knowledge of game/software development and QA role.
  • Experience with testing a game in various phases.
Good to have:
  • Basic understanding of the Unity game engine.
  • Proven experience with test case management.
  • Proficient with industry standard QA Tools (Jira, iTunes, ADB, etc.)
  • Good communication skills in English.

The Quest: 

  • Work closely with all scrum teams/product owners to make sure each release meets high- quality standards.
  • Become the Subject Matter Expert for the assigned project. Be the central contact person for multiple assigned areas based on experience.
  • Contributes to test effort estimates based on experience, tools and historical data.
  • Identify and provide solutions to optimize the current QA process and ensure we provide quality and on time deliverables.
  • Actively collaborating with developers, designers, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, especially in terms of testability, consistency and completeness.
  • Participating proactively in backlog refinement, sprint planning, team retrospectives, and other Scrum ceremonies.
  • Define release/acceptance criteria for every QA verifiable deliverable.
  • Perform daily smoke tests to ensure the stability of the build.
  • Works alongside developers, artists, and designers to perform specific tests.
  • Executes various levels and types of testing such as smoke, sanity, exploratory, functional, regression tests.
  • Communicates risks and dependencies to ensure that they have visibility and are addressed.
  • Raise any issues blocking the QA process in a timely manner.
  • Review database issues to make sure the correct severity/priority was assigned.
  •  Publish/respond to issues, where required, while working closely with the Product Owner.
  •  Manages bug entry to minimize invalid and duplicate issues
  • Be the voice of quality for the product by providing qualitative or design feedback from a player’s perspective.
  • Use KPIs to improve the quality of the QA deliverables.
  • Offer training assistance if needed in onboarding new testers
  • Provides mentoring to team members as needed.
  • Creates, updates and maintains test scripts, test cases, test scenarios, project documentation and QA documents.
  • Executes an assigned portion of the test plan.
  •  Takes ownership for own development and career management, seeking opportunities to develop personal capabilities and improve performance.
 

The Skills: 

  • 3+ years of gaming/software testing experience.
  •  Willingness to work in an agile environment and can share complex technical information with different teams and partners, within or outside of the quality assurance team.
  • Knowledge of game/software development framework, milestone requirements and QA role/development team deliverables at each stage.
  • ·Experience with testing a game in various phases of its development, from concept to live ops.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Skills and the ability to come up with quick and creative solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and to think “outside of the box”.
  • Basic understanding of the Unity game engine.
  • Understanding and proven experience with test case management.
  • Performance and productivity-oriented to drive towards quality outcomes and results.
  • Proficient with industry standard QA Tools (Jira, iTunes, ADB, etc.)
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
