Job Description

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be part of a team of engineers and product managers working to deliver top-notch applications. You will be responsible for responding to internal support requests and project-based work. This includes configuration changes, user management, troubleshooting, infrastructure automation, software upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. The role also involves being on call periodically to support the team and a strong focus on automation. You should be able to work independently, learn quickly, and handle multiple projects simultaneously. This position will require you to work with containerization, automation and have knowledge of AWS, GCP or on-premise infrastructures.
Must have:
  • Experience in a similar role (DevOps, Build & Release, SRE).
  • Strong focus and experience with day 2 operations.
  • Experience working with Containerization (Docker & Kubernetes preferred).
  • Experience with configuration management and infrastructure as code tools.
  • Experience with a programming language (Bash & Python preferred).
  • Extensive experience in Linux.
  • Experience working with AWS, GCP, and/or on-premise.
Good to have:
  • Experience with Postgres, MySQL, Elastic Search, Kafka, Redis, ArgoCD, Terragrunt, Prometheus, and any web programming.

About the Role & Team

As part of the team, you will be working with a team of smart, friendly, and dedicated Engineers, Product Managers and Designers determined to deliver some of the best apps the market has to offer. We want you to be challenged and to get the full experience of what it’s like to work at Penn Interactive! We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our site reliability team, to work cross-functionally across engineering, and be the front line in stopping and preventing cyber-crime. This role will be immersed in threat detections and security hardening, as well as supporting all cloud security initiatives in the future.

About the Work

  • Your time will be split between responding to internal support requests and project-based work.
  • Internal Support request: you will be responsible for making configuration changes for our code repository, adding in users, troubleshooting, and other duties that are requested from you when needed.
  • Project work: You will build out the infrastructure automation, perform software upgrades, conduct general infrastructure improvements, and other project-based work.
  • You will be required to be on call once every 4 - 8 weeks to support the team in a variety of capacities as needed.
  • Automate everything.
  • Other duties as required.

 About You

  • Experience in a similar role (DevOps Engineer, Build & Release Engineer, SRE or similar)
  • Strong focus and experience with day 2 operations
  • Experience working with Containerization (Docker & Kubernetes preferred)
  • Automation: experience with configuration management and infrastructure as code tools is a must. Terraform (preferred), Ansible, Helm, etc.
  • Experience with a programming language (Bash & Python preferred).
  • Extensive experience in Linux.
  • Experience working with AWS, GCP, and/or on-premise.
  • A combination of a developer and systems administration background would be ideal.
  • Ability to work independently and learn quickly with little supervision.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to drop everything and take on an ad-hoc task.
  • You’re the type of individual who is extremely tech-savvy and passionate about learning new technologies and tools.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, and/or similar experience.
  • Nice to have: Postgres, MySQL, Elastic Search, Kafka, Redis, ArgoCD, Terragrunt, Prometheus, and any web programming.

Salary Range

$90,000 - $150,000 USD

Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is just one component of our competitive Total Rewards package, which includes wellness programs designed to support our team members' financial, physical, and mental well-being. Specific benefits—such as day-one medical coverage, 401(k) matching, annual performance bonus and equity package — depending on position. Paid time off is earned according to the local policy and increases with the length of employment.
