Job Description Summary:

The Consumer Journeys design team within PayPal is responsible for the consumer facing experience originating at merchant sites, through Checkout and all the post-purchase journeys leading to and within the consumer app.

The Consumer Journeys design team within PayPal is responsible for the consumer facing experience originating at merchant sites, through Checkout and all the post-purchase journeys leading to and within the consumer app.   

 

Position Overview: 

Your team is responsible for all shopping experiences across PayPal's consumer app in addition to the post-purchase journey. This includes PayPal's rewards and offers program, post purchase Smart Receipts and Package Tracking programs. In this role, your team will drive new innovative experiences for the Shopping and Post Purchase team.   

The Product Design Director is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall design vision, strategy, and execution across product lines. This role involves setting the design direction for the company, managing a large team of designers, and working closely with executive leadership to integrate design into the core of the business strategy. 

 As the Shopping & Post Purchase Design Director within the Purchase Design team, you will work alongside your cross-functional peer group to influence strategic design decisions and ultimately deliver the best possible app and web experiences.  

 

Job Responsibilities 

Your role is to inspire a design community; be engaged and informed; lead by example to take accountability for creative vision; elevate impact and craft; mature design operations.  

Day to day you will work alongside your cross-functional peer group to influence strategic design decisions and ultimately deliver the best possible app and web experiences. More specifically: 

 

  • Ensure that all the organization’s output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand and strategic commitments. 

  • Apply a customer-focused, iterative design process, while elevating impact and craft.  

  • Make design decisions based on research and insights and advocate for continuous learning and inclusive design best practices.  

  • Collaborate with other cross-functional Design team members (Research, Content Design, UX Operations, Branding) and Business and Engineering stakeholders. 

  • Show strong people management and leadership skills to hire, develop, and inspire the creative team. 

  • Be engaged, ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas. 

  

Qualifications: 

  • Experience in Sr. UX role and evidence of managing creative teams (including leadership, team building, and delegation.  

  • Proven experience in leading, growing and inspiring highly talented and productive teams.  

  • Thorough command of the UX lifecycle with deep, direct experience in all skill areas and tools, including facilitation of workshops or other collaboration techniques to drive momentum and credibility within the organization.  

  • Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model to regularly deliver design solutions for approval.  

  • A degree in a visual or experiential design discipline or equivalent professional experience. 

  • Business and Employee management services expertise an advantage. 

  • Must have an up-to-date portfolio link with application.   

 

You will report to the Sr. Director of Design for Consumer Journeys and be a member of our diverse Global Design Organization where we believe that different perspectives and backgrounds inside our team lead to innovation and inclusion in our product design.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is

$120300 to $287100
