The Director of AI Infrastructure at Microsoft's CO+I will lead infrastructure integration and optimization for AI supercomputing. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities and gaps in AI implementation, conducting market research and competitive analyses, defining success metrics (OKRs, KPIs), driving orchestration and integration efforts across teams and partners, acting as a technical advisor, and leading direct customer engagements. The role requires experience in product/technical program management, cross-functional project management, and a deep understanding of product manufacturing and ROI. This is a hybrid or fully remote role located within 50 miles of Atlanta, GA; Washington, D.C.; Redmond, WA; San Antonio, TX; or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation support is provided.

Overview

 

The CO+I AI Delivery organization is dedicated to providing a range of platform services to our worldwide AI customers. This position necessitates close collaboration throughout Microsoft, as these initiatives will be at the forefront of innovation, involving pilot programs and other experiments that shape our continued dedication to delivering AI platform services quickly and on a large scale. We are a part of Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I), the group responsible for one of the world's largest cloud infrastructures, powering all Microsoft online products and services, and supporting Microsoft's "Cloud First" strategy. CO+I is committed to growth, efficiency, and providing reliable experiences to customers and partners globally.

 

We are looking for a Director of AI Infrastructure to lead infrastructure integration and optimization initiatives to enable Artificial Intelligence supercomputing. This role will primarily be responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce the time-to-market and operationalizing best practices.

  • This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. 
  • Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. 
  • This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years' experience in product/technical program management or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years' experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years' experience in product/technical program management or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years' experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 3+ years' experience with product manufacturing

 

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies complex opportunities and gaps in the implementation of multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service) including comparison of various quality and performance metrics to various solutions.
  • Independently performs complex market research in collaboration with other teams, conducts competitive analyses, and examines customer and technology-related industry trends, as well as industry-specific requirements or regulations. Integrates relevant data on product usage, product telemetry, and service data together to identify complex patterns, generate hypotheses, and build a plan to change the product.
  • Defines success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs], Key Performance Indicators [KPIs] such as quality and performance) of multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service) and works with Software and Hardware Engineering to ensure needed telemetry is developed. Deeply understands the return on investment and presents it to key stakeholders.
  • Creates relationships to drive orchestration and integration efforts for the development and implementation process of multiple feature areas (e.g., product, services) for large and complex cross functional projects with internal teams and external partners. Collaborates and coordinates across organizations to ensure alignment on product management and release, including tradeoffs, adjustments, and improvements as feasible.
  • Acts as a technical advisor to educate and evangelize the feature areas (e.g., product, service) they work on with customers via meetings, presentations, and other forums. Leads direct customer (internal and/or external) engagements to solicit feedback and understand their experiences with the feature areas (e.g., product, program, services).
