Zscaler is seeking a Director of Engineering Operations to oversee the rhythm of business for its product roadmap, software delivery, and cloud operations. This role is crucial for driving cross-functional priorities and ensuring a customer-first approach. Responsibilities include designing and implementing engineering processes, managing priorities across Engineering, Product, and Global Customer Success, operationalizing transformational initiatives for R&D, establishing a clear rhythm of business aligned with objectives, and developing a standardized process for customer communications regarding releases and escalations. The company is a leader in cloud security, protecting thousands of enterprise customers globally.
Must have:
  • 12+ years of engineering experience

As the Director of Engineering Operations at Zscaler, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and managing the rhythm of the business to enable the strategy and execution of our product roadmap, software delivery, and cloud operations. This position is critical for driving and managing key cross-functional priorities, ensuring a customer-first approach in the design and communication of processes, and owning change management for our most significant initiatives. You will report directly to the VP of Shared Platform Engineering, and you will be responsible for: 

  • Designing and implementing critical engineering processes, including updates to supporting tools and the automation of activities
  • Managing key cross-functional priorities across Engineering, Product, and Global Customer Success teams
  • Operationalizing transformational initiatives for the R&D organization, including rollout plans and comprehensive change management
  • Establishing and running interlocks that create a clear rhythm of business aligned with objectives, ensuring the successful achievement of OKRs
  • Developing a standardized process for delivering customer communications related to releases, escalations, and executive updates

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • 12+ years of engineering experience, with 8+ years of experience leading teams in business operations, processes, strategy, and planning within technical domains
  • Proficient in Six Sigma methodologies and process improvement tools
  • Skilled in interpreting data and utilizing that information to inform decision-making
  • Proficient in relevant software tools, including process mapping, data analysis, and project management software
  • Demonstrated success in driving change management programs

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience in engineering and R&D environments, with over 3 years managing teams focused on process improvement
  • Proficiency in engineering and enterprise software, including Jira, SFDC, and Confluence
  • Proven ability to translate analyses into actionable business strategies with measurable impact

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range

$192,500 - $275,000 USD
