Job Description

As Director Product for Figurines (Tonies), you'll lead the expansion and evolution of the figurine product category, driving commercial targets and customer engagement. Responsibilities include developing and executing the product vision and strategy, managing the figurine portfolio and roadmap, leading the end-to-end product development lifecycle, championing a customer-centric approach, building and mentoring a high-performing team, and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization. You will be responsible for launching innovative figurine formats and expanding existing ones, leveraging data to drive decisions and ensure timely and impactful product launches. This pivotal role requires a proven track record of success in launching and scaling toys or hardware products, particularly in the figurines or plush market.

The intuitive and award-winning audio system has changed the way young children play and learn independently with its child-safe, wireless, and screen-free approach. As the original category creator in interactive audio for children, tonies stands apart in its pioneering approach and market leadership.

Tonieboxes have been activated in over 100 countries, the content portfolio includes more than 1,100 Tonies figurines in several languages. Since its inception, tonies has achieved significant milestones, including listing on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in November 2021 as well as a globally present team of over 550 dedicated professionals operating from various countries.

You as part of tonies:
As the Director Product for Figurines (Tonies), you will join our Product Leadership Team and take charge of expanding and evolving our figurine experience and portfolio. This is a pivotal role focused on delivering a diverse range of high-quality, engaging form factors such as figurines, plush, shapes, and many more that inspire kids and enrich their experiences with the Toniebox. You'll work at the forefront of innovation, driving new (figurine) formats and collaborating across teams to ensure timely and impactful launches.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Develop and execute the vision and strategy for our figurines (Tonies) product category, aligned with the company’s overarching goals and product strategy.

  • Manage the portfolio and roadmap of figurines to drive commercial targets and customer engagement in close collaboration with Portfolio and Content Teams.

  • Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, including the creation and launch of innovative (figurine) formats as well as the expansion of existing formats.

  • Champion a customer-centric approach, gathering and analyzing market data, sales performance, and user feedback to inform decisions.

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing product team, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.

  • Work closely with senior leadership, consumer research, marketing, sales, and other stakeholders to align product initiatives with business goals.

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product and portfolio success, and drive continuous improvement. 

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in product or a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role, ideally in a high-growth and international environment.

  • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling toys or hardware products; prior experience with figurines, plush, and other collectable form factors preferred.

  • Strong understanding of the product development process, from ideation to market launch and EOL; prior experience in supply chain and design-to-value preferred.

  • Experience in portfolio and category management, with the ability to drive product diversification and growth.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making.

  • Passion for creating innovative products that enhance the lives of children and their families.

  • Excellent English skills required.

  • Willingness to travel regularly (approximately 1-2 times per month, primarily to Düsseldorf)
