The Director of Product Management for The Sims at Maxis (an EA studio) will lead an incubation team in developing new game concepts and features within the EA Lifestyle Group. This hands-on role involves market research, building and prioritizing experiment backlogs, writing detailed specifications, designing testing frameworks, collaborating with cross-functional teams, analyzing results, and reporting to the Head of Sims Mobile. Responsibilities include identifying best practices, writing spec documents, communicating insights to leadership, and rapidly prototyping and testing game ideas. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in game design or product management, a strong understanding of mobile game development and market strategies, and excellent communication and project management skills. They should be comfortable leading and mentoring a team and navigating complex organizational structures.

Location (Hybrid): Vancouver; this is a hybrid role with 3 days a week onsite the studio.

You will be working to develop new potential titles in the EA Lifestyle Group. We build games for Imaginative Creators; games that allow players to create something that is an expression of their unique personality.

In this role you will be directing an incubation team through prototyping and market testing of new potential game concepts and features. This is a hands-on role that requires building and maintaining a backlog of experimental initiatives, writing specifications, testing frameworks, and working closely with a cross disciplinary team to ship them and analyze results.

You will be reporting to the Head of Sims Mobile.

Responsibilities:

  • Use market research as a benchmark and identify evolving best practices and implementations

  • Build and maintain a prioritized backlog of experiments

  • Write high-quality, detailed, actionable spec documents and provide thoughtful feedback on others’ work

  • Communicate with leadership to provide regular updates, insights, and strategic recommendations

  • Rapidly prototype and test ideas via surveys, player studies, and limited market tests

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in game design or product management

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • Desire to lead cutting-edge and challenging initiatives

  • Ability to articulate complex and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience navigating complex organizational structures and cultivating relationships with cross-functional stakeholders

  • Excellent stakeholder coordination and project management skills

  • Experience with mobile game development and industry strategies

  • Experience in managing, developing, and growing a high-performance team is a bonus

  • Proficient in coaching and mentorship

  • Ability to balance work across multiple initiatives

  • An innate love for games

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)

    • $151,800 - $208,900 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
