About the team
Thales Hellas is located in Koropi, close to Athens and the international airport. The mission of the local team is twofold:
Represent the Thales Group in country.
Sustain and expand the local footprint (through the local company and with local partners).
The team is approximately 40 people strong, an consists of a commercial pillar and an operations pillar. Together, we address the civil aviation, defense, cyber security and space market in Greece and Cyprus by submitting offers, capturing opportunities, executing projects and delivering through life support. To that end, the team closely cooperates with a wide variety of stakeholders within the Thales Group and within the local Greek ecosystem.
Job Summary:
The operations department consists of projects, procurement, quality, facilities, HSE, IS/IT and a Defense Service Centre (DSC). The Director Projects & Services is responsible for project execution and service delivery, and as such secures the companies’ targets on revenues, profit (EBIT) and cash-in. Furthermore, you are responsible for securing a services pipeline for the DSC, the professional development of your teams and the growth of maturity of the company when it comes to project and service management. Within the Thales Group services community, you act as an ambassador, actively share your knowledge and experience and identify opportunities for growth of the Greek DSC. Your team consists of appr. 15 people and you report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Thales Hellas.
In addition to the above, you are also the Bid & Projects referent for the region North and Central Europe (NCE) – this amounts to appr. 25% of your time. In this capacity you work with bid and project managers in the other countries of the region and supervise/support them in the execution of their tasks. You deploy processes and tools and support the ramp up of the B&P function within NCE, with the aim of growing local footprints in the countries. As B&P referent for NCE, you report to the Director Operations NCE (which is the same person as the COO Thales Hellas).
Your main tasks are:
Supervise project execution and service delivery, in line with Thales Group processes and practices.
Secure revenues, profit and cash-in for the company.
Develop the pipeline and grow the capabilities of the DSC; serve as Defense Services Champion for Greece.
Coordinate the sales & operations cycle for the company, securing sufficient workload and an appropriate workforce.
Grow maturity in bid and project management for the region and deploy relevant processes and tools to that end in order to enable prime contracting.
As member of the Thales Hellas executive committee, support the definition and implementation of the Thales Hellas transformation and growth plan.
Why you'd be a good match:
You have a relevant college/university degree and a minimum of 10 years relevant working experience (project management, operations, services), preferably within Thales in any of the relevant GBU’s.
You have a proven track record in international and defense business, and have been exposed to customer and subcontractors.
You have excellent communication- and language skills (English required, French/Greek is a plus).
You have the knowledge of Greek ecosystem (mainly customer, but also partners).
You are familiar with an engineering/technical environment and are able to get up to speed very quickly with(in) the Thales organization, our solutions and our customers.
You have the ability to act in a rapidly changing environment, work with cross-cultural teams and easily collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at operational, tactical and strategic level (together).
You see opportunities and deals well with complexity, able define and implement new organizational structures, grow new business (think big).
You bring structure and clarity, sets goals and is result-driven; keeps the overview at all times, is proactive and able to overcome challenges with a pragmatic attitude (make it happen).
