The Director of Social Media Insights and Analytics will lead a team responsible for social media analysis, measurement strategy, and reporting for diverse clients. Responsibilities include formulating data and reporting strategies, acting as an expert on social media platform analytics (TikTok, Instagram, etc.) and tools like Rival IQ, managing and mentoring a team of analysts, partnering with the strategy team on audits and pitches, and contributing to the agency's overall analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of social media analytics experience, preferably in an agency environment within the brand, gaming, or entertainment sectors. Strong client-facing skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights are essential.

Role overview

We are currently seeking a Director of Social Media Insights and Analytics to lead our Insights and Analytics team. This team is responsible for driving social media analysis, measurement strategy, and reporting for a diverse portfolio of clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading social media analysts and a proven ability to leverage insights to create impactful, data-driven campaigns. With 5 to 7 years of experience in the social media space, preferably within an agency environment, the candidate will be equipped to drive both strategy and execution at a senior level.

What are we looking for? Our Director of Social Media Insights and Analytics has a knack for the following skills:

Communication:

  • Educate internal stakeholders on the importance of data strategy and its value to the agency.
  • Translate quantitative findings into actionable insights through storytelling in both internal and client presentations.
  • Share insights on cultural trends and audience behavioral shifts in order to inspire breakthrough creative thinking.

Analytics:

  • Formulate and establish a strong data and reporting POV that DMM will use to measure success across social media campaigns.
  • Act as the resident expert on social media platform analytics (TikTok, Instagram, etc.) and tools, such as Rival IQ.
  • Evaluate and recommend additional analytics and consumer research tools, manage relationships with vendors, and lead internal training on new tools.
  • Identify ways to improve how we measure and report on campaign success.

Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor a team of social media analysts with a focus on growth, learning, and development.
  • Scope and prioritize the team’s work based on business needs.
  • Partner with the strategy team to lead and develop social audits, playbooks, and new business pitches.

Business:

  • Contributes to defining and expanding the agency's POV, capabilities, and offerings in social media analytics, by identifying trends and opportunities to enhance analytics solutions, helping ensure the agency remains competitive and aligned with client needs.

You'd be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • 5-7 years in social media analytics and data strategy, particularly within brand, gaming, or entertainment sectors; skilled in using data to drive strategy and optimize campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of how paid, earned, and owned media work together to enhance social media campaigns, creating integrated strategies for maximum impact.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • Extensive client-facing experience, with the ability to simplify complex data insights for non-technical stakeholders and foster strong relationships.
  • 5+ years experience in leading and mentoring teams, collaborating across departments, and guiding cross-functional teams to achieve business goals and successful campaigns.
  • Availability to work between 9am and 6pm PST
