Job Description

As an Editorial and Project Delivery Manager in Custom Publishing, you will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of custom publishing projects. This includes evaluating new proposals, scoping and costing solutions, preparing business cases, and overseeing project execution to ensure delivery on time and within budget. You will collaborate with global stakeholders, including sales teams and third-party customers, to meet quality, schedule, and budget requirements. The role also involves guiding the delivery team, contributing to the Custom Publishing Delivery Strategy, and managing supplier relationships to expand the resource network.
Must have:
  • Extensive experience managing multiple publishing projects
  • Proven editorial skills (ELT context preferred)
  • Experience scoping publishing projects
  • Proven experience in cost estimation and budget management
  • Knowledge of print and digital publishing processes
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
Good to have:
  • Recognized ELT/EFL qualification or teaching experience
  • Recognized project management qualification
  • Experience matrix managing cross-functional teams
  • Line-management experience
  • Experience adapting to a fast-paced environment

About the Role

As Editorial and Project Delivery Manager, you will participate in and drive forward the end-to-end process of Custom Publishing projects, from the evaluation of new proposals and opportunities, scoping and costing solutions, preparation and submission of business cases to setting up, running and delivering of projects on time and to budget.

This role can be located in our London, Madrid or Warsaw offices on a hybrid working model. The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with global stakeholders (sales teams/third-party customers) to identify the best fit solutions and to ensure that projects are delivered meeting quality, schedule and budget requirements
  • Support, guide and direct the Custom Publishing delivery team as they work to deliver individual projects
  • Contribute to the development of the Custom Publishing Delivery Strategy to address market needs and opportunities including the need to scale up or down in response to business requirements
  • Manage supplier relationships, including packagers/ outsourced service providers, and actively expand resource network to enable the Delivery Strategy goals

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential 

  • Extensive experience of project managing multiple complex publishing projects concurrently
  • Proven editorial skills, ideally within an ELT context
  • Demonstrable experience of scoping publishing projects to satisfy a market or customer brief
  • Proven experience of estimating costs and of effective budget management
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of publishing development processes for print and digital
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

Desirable 

  • A recognised ELT/EFL qualification and/or teaching experience would be an advantage
  • A recognised project management qualification is a bonus
  • Proven experience of matrix managing cross functional teams and ideally some line-management experience
  • Demonstrable experience of working in and adapting to a fast-paced, changing environment
