ABOUT YOUR ROLE

The Hardware (Electrical Engineer) is responsible for all electrical and electronic aspects of the design and support of printer and accessory products including in-house design and supporting third party products. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of electrical and electronic design from conception and specification through design, documentation, prototyping, testing,  qualification, regulatory certification, and supporting the product in manufacturing and the field. The incumbent will accomplish successful product design and support through close collaboration with others both within and outside the organization. The incumbent will be a major contributor applying extensive knowledge of the electrical and electronic aspects of the product line.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Perform electrical and electronic design and documentation of wiring, PCBs and harnessing of in-house product designs working with the rest of the engineering team to ensure a timely and effective design. Work with regulatory engineers to ensure designs meet regulatory requirements and to provide information and documentation required for regulatory certifications.
  • Work with third party vendor to ensure components, assemblies, and finished products meet requirements.
  • Participate in the conceptualization, specification, and design of proposed products to ensure effective accomplishment of product goals.
  • Provide input to the development of product development schedules and keep management informed of progress to schedule.
  • Gather and analyze information about manufacturing and field problems and develop and implement solutions.
  • Present information and effectively communicate both within and outside the department both verbally and written.
  • Methodical Problem Solving: uses a methodical approach (builds models, design test plans, develops test tools, etc.) in understanding and solving problems.
  • Leverage internal and external experts to accomplish goals.
  • Contact inter-organizational and outside customer contacts to both obtain and provide information required.
  • Produce documentation in compliance with Avery Dennison standards.
  • Other duties, as assigned by management.

 Locations: Sayre, PA or Miamisburg, OH.

Qualifications

  • BSEE degree, from an accredited university, or bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (e.g. BS Computer Engineering) with 3-5 years of applicable work experience.
  • Working knowledge of circuit design and analysis. PCB design skills and a working knowledge of regulatory requirements are a plus.
  • Knowledge/experience in microcontrollers, electromechanical control (motors, solenoids, etc), programmable logic, and control theory a plus.
  • Ability to use engineering equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Ability to construct prototype and test fixtures using common tools such as soldering irons, crimping tools, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, a self-starter with outstanding planning and organizational skills.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and the Google online suite of products (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a diverse team with diverse cultures across multiple geographic locations.
  • Excellent analytical capability and apply logical thinking to a wide range of technical problems, including the ability to understand a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Some travel both domestic and abroad to support product design, implementation and support.
  • Able to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
