Electrical Engineer
Job Summary
Job Description
As an Electrical Engineer at Valve, you'll be responsible for delivering world-class hardware products like Steam Deck, Valve Index, and Steam Controller. You'll collaborate with teams to define product goals, design and evaluate novel gaming hardware, and work closely with contract manufacturers for prototyping and production. You'll need proven design skills using industry-standard tools like Altium Designer, hands-on experience with electronics prototyping, strong lab skills, and a deep understanding of embedded systems, communication interfaces, and manufacturing processes. You'll have the opportunity to design and ship high-volume consumer electronics products and contribute to the cutting edge of gaming technology.
Must have:
- Proven design skills with CAD/EDA tools (Altium Designer experience preferred)
- Hands-on electronics prototyping experience
- Strong lab skills with test and measurement equipment
- Embedded systems design experience
- Experience with common digital communication interfaces (USB, SPI, I2C)
- Experience working with manufacturing partners
- Proven track record of designing and shipping high-volume consumer electronics products
- Experience in DFM/DFT of electronic devices
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
Good to have:
- Analog circuit design and simulation (e.g. SPICE)
- Low-power design experience
- RF/wireless circuit design experience
- Firmware development experience
- High speed/HDI board design experience
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP) experience
- High speed video interface experience
- Regulatory compliance testing experience
- C/C++ software development experience
- Test automation experience
- FPGA/ASIC design experience
