Job Description

Bungie seeks an Engineering Architect for their Game Server Orchestration team. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining backend architecture for scalable online applications, focusing on SQL databases, efficiency, and reliability. Responsibilities include designing game server and cloud infrastructure solutions, building robust technical architecture models, providing code reviews, and collaborating with team leads to gather requirements. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in designing complex service ecosystems, building C# code, and implementing efficient SQL database solutions. They should also effectively communicate with diverse teams.

Must have:

As an Engineering Architect on Bungie’s Orchestration team, you bring valuable experience in creating highly available online applications to enhance our technical operations.

The Orchestration team is at the heart of Bungie’s Central Technology Online area, driving the global implementation of Bungie’s backend and game server scaling solutions. This team plays a crucial role in enabling our games to bring joy and excitement to millions of players worldwide by ensuring seamless online experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, build, extend, and maintain backend architecture for scalable online applications, with a strong emphasis on SQL databases, efficiency, and reliability.
Design, develop, and maintain game server and cloud infrastructure solutions
Build and communicate robust mental models for complex technical architecture.
Provide knowledge, guidance, and code reviews to ensure best practices in database design and usage across the team
Work closely with the team leads to gather technical requirements from across the company, ensuring results align with broader company objectives.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Experience designing and maintaining complex service ecosystems
Ability to independently build and maintain robust, object-oriented code in C#
Ability to design and implement efficient, scalable, and maintainable SQL database solutions that align with best practices in relational database design
Ability to communicate effectively with customers of different technical and non-technical backgrounds to build features and achieve goals.

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

Familiarity with AWS APIs, services, and permissions management
Experience with building and supporting persistent game servers

Listed below is this role's base pay range. In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly).

This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Bellevue Pay Range

$189,000—$223,000 USD

Contractors will follow a digital first approach adhering to the location guidelines agreed upon by our third-party employer/vendor and Bungie.
