Summary

As an Engineering Manager - AI Applications, you will lead teams of engineers in developing and implementing AI-driven solutions. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and strategic vision to integrate AI seamlessly into products and services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable AI applications. Responsibilities include overseeing AI application development, managing projects, collaborating with stakeholders, leading and mentoring a team, contributing to AI strategy, providing technical guidance on system architecture, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting issues.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years developing production-grade AI applications
  • 2+ years in a leadership or management role
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages (Python, Java, C++)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras)
  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in AI/ML
  • Experience with MLOps tools (Kubeflow, MLflow)
  • Advanced degrees in AI or machine learning

Job Overview

As an Engineering Manager - AI Applications, you will lead teams (either by managing them or leading their projects) of talented engineers in developing and implementing AI-driven applications that solve real-world problems. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and strategic vision to ensure that AI technologies are integrated seamlessly into products and services, consistently with our technical ecosystem. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, machine learning, and software engineering, to deliver high-quality, scalable AI solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • AI Application Development: Oversee the design, development, and deployment of AI applications, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
  • Project Management: Manage the end-to-end delivery of AI application projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and quality. Balance technical leadership with project execution.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with product managers, ML Engineers, and other engineering teams to define requirements, set expectations, and integrate AI features into products.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers focused on building AI applications. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative work environment.
  • Technical Strategy: Contribute to the AI applications strategy, identifying new opportunities to integrate AI into products and improve existing solutions through innovation and optimization.
  • AI/ML System Architecture: Provide technical guidance on system architecture, data pipelines, and deployment processes to ensure AI applications are scalable, reliable, and secure.
  • Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Define KPIs and establish monitoring frameworks to track the performance of AI applications. Quickly identify and resolve issues in production environments.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI/ML, or a related field. Advanced degrees in AI or machine learning are a plus.
  • Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years focused on developing production-grade applications. 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, with a proven track record of managing engineering teams.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deploying AI applications in cloud environments.
  • Experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras, as well as MLOps tools like Kubeflow or MLflow.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, with a passion for developing talent and building high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate challenges in AI application development.
