Job Description:

As an Engineering Manager at Skillz, you will lead high-performing teams responsible for building scalable services with a focus on reliability, uptime, and cost-efficiency. You’ll be a hands-on leader, coaching and motivating engineers while driving innovation and ensuring technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop engineering teams to build reliable and scalable systems.
• Drive the team’s success through hiring, mentoring, and fostering collaboration.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to prioritize features, manage risks, and communicate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to technical best practices, including code maintenance, review, and system design.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven hands-on leadership experience.
• Expertise in backend application development (distributed systems, microservices, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in system design, with experience in Java, Go, Python, Javascript, or Ruby.
• Experience in the gaming industry or with payment systems is a plus.
• Demonstrated success in leading engineering teams with a healthy tenure (2+ years per role) and a strong track record of promotions.
• Ability to work in-office 5 days a week in Bangalore [WeWork Salarpuria Magnifica].
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
