Engineering Manager, Identity & Authentication Security

The Identity & Authentication Security team at Netflix is a central security team that supports the Netflix workforce and partners by creating and operating Identity & Authentication (ex. SSO, MFA) services for users & applications. Our Enterprise IAM use cases continue to become more complex as we increase investment in Netflix Original content production ecosystems, including Live, Events, Gaming and beyond. Our workforce and partners are global, and they access our resources with different patterns from a variety of locations and devices. Balancing security and ease of access supporting fast-paced timelines, we realize that the traditional corporate network security perimeter no longer meets our requirements. Instead, we invest in Identity as a perimeter in the open internet, with reliable, strong and risk-aware access platforms to protect Netflix resources.

Among others, this means we:

• Sustain and enhance essential workflows, including the onboarding and access processes for users, services, and applications

• Own an IAM platform built atop vendor solutions with a heavy amount of customization and homegrown services to support our diverse work populations

You will collaborate with your team to set the vision for Identity & Authentication Security within Security Services Engineering (SSE), and work with other leaders within Security Engineering to help guide your team and us as an organization. You will spend your time networking both inside and outside the company, recruiting for your team, building effective and strong partnerships with stakeholders. You will work closely with partner teams including Platform Engineering, Content Engineering, Application & Infrastructure Security and more, providing and receiving feedback effectively and aligning on shared goals/deliverables.

• You have a passion and background in software or security engineering.

• You have 5+ years experience and success in leading engineering teams staffed with a range of experienced engineers to support work critical systems.

• You are well versed in technical principles of high scale software engineering, operational excellence, and balancing performance, security, and reliability;

• You’re deeply interested in organizational culture and health and have enough familiarity with to both find it primarily attractive and to have questions about how it manifests on the ground and impacts your ability to do your job.

It is important to have:

• You have experience working with Identity, authentication and authorization protocols/frameworks (OpenID Connect, SCIM, OAuth or SAML).

• You have a background working in Software Engineering, Security or IAM foundational roles.

• Your background in people management includes working with highly technical engineers of varying backgrounds and levels of experience.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $190,000 - $920,000.
