Job Description

Tesla seeks a highly driven Engineering Technician to support the design and fabrication of manufacturing test equipment at their Gigafactory in Berlin-Brandenburg. Responsibilities include building electrical cabinets and mechanical/automation systems, validating product functionality on production lines (Supercharging, Battery Packs, etc.), collaborating with engineers, creating best-practice documentation, and troubleshooting test systems. This is a one-year fixed-term position requiring experience in building electrical cabinets and mechanical automation systems, proficiency in reading schematics, and experience with various tools and instrumentation.
Good To Have:
  • EPLAN schematic design experience
  • Understanding of mechanical assembly design, machining, 3D printing, laser cutting
Must Have:
  • Completed vocational education (Electrical/Mechatronics Technician)
  • 2+ years experience building electrical cabinets & mechanical systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting
  • Experience reading/interpreting electrical schematics & diagrams
  • Proficient with hand/power tools, wiring tools, and measurement instrumentation
  • Excellent communication skills (English)

We are looking for a highly driven technician to support the design and fabrication of manufacturing test equipment. As part of the manufacturing test team, you will be building electrical cabinets and mechanical and automation systems that validate functionality of a variety of Tesla products on production lines (Supercharging, Battery Packs, Drive Systems, Power Electronic Products...). The role involves working closely with the engineers designing the test equipment to bring it from schematics to fully ramped machine on the production line. This position is fixed-term for one year.

What You’ll Do
  • Building and wiring electrical cabinets and harnesses following design schematics
  • Fabrication of mechanical and automation systems for the test equipment
  • Attending design review with electrical and mechanical engineers to provide design recommendations for best practices on machine fabrication
  • Creating best practices documentation for high quality machine builds and safe work standards
  • Validate, integrate, deploy and troubleshoot test systems on the production line
  • Workshop management to ensure availability of the tools, inventory and an effective workspace
What You’ll Bring
  • Completed vocational education as Electrical Technician, Mechatronics Technician or equivalent
  • 2 years + of experience working on building electrical cabinets and mechanical automation systems
  • Good fundamental understanding of electrical systems and how to troubleshoot them
  • Strong experience with reading and interpreting electrical schematics and circuits, wiring diagrams and harness drawings
  • Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools, and lap equipment
  • Experience using wiring tools such as crimpers, wire splicing, soldering, pin extraction tools
  • Experience with measurement instrumentation & power distribution hardware (oscilloscope, multimeters, power supplies, transfomers...)
  • Ability to communicate in English in a work environment is a must
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to remain engaged, proactive and positive in challenging circumstances, as well as to take full reponsibility for assigned tasks and their success
Preferred:
  • Experience in designing electrical schematics on EPLAN is a big plus
  • Understanding of mechanical assembly design, machining, 3D printing, laser cutting equipment are preferred
