Job Description

Experienced Lighting Artist needed for Project Baxter, a cooperative action game set in the Dungeons & Dragons® world. Using Unreal Engine 5, Lumen, and Nanite, you'll create and implement in-game lighting exceeding industry standards. Responsibilities include following art direction, collaborating with Art & Tech teams, and managing work using project management tools. You'll independently take initiative and potentially lead small teams, adapting to changing situations. The role requires experience in real-time PBR lighting workflows and a strong artistic skill set. Project launches in 2026 on major platforms. Stockholm-based with set office days (Tues-Thurs).

We are looking to hire an Experienced Lighting Artist to join our Project Baxter team. You will create and implement lighting for various settings that elicits the desired atmosphere of the art direction. You will be using Unreal Engine 5 and utilising Lumen, Nanite and other related tools and technologies.

As an Experienced member of our team, you will be primarily focused on task execution under minimal guidance and be able to adapt to meet different and changing situations. You will be able take initiative and have a drive to take on more extensive responsibilities and support cross-discipline, as well as, on occasion, lead the work of small/feature teams.

Please note that this role must be based in Stockholm with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as set office days.

Project Baxter is a cooperative action game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons®. Inspired by our love of tabletop RPGs and built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, we will embrace cutting edge technology to create entertaining and emergent gameplay scenarios. Project Baxter is set to launch on all major platforms in 2026.


Responsibilities:

  • Creating and implementing in-game lighting and pushing it beyond the industry standards, using Unreal Engine 5 and utilising Lumen and Nanite;

  • Follow references, concepts, and art direction while also having the initiative to take the work further independently;

  • Working closely with the Art and Tech teams to ensure that quality is consistent and cohesive;

  • Updating work and backlog using project management and planning tools (e.g. JIRA).


Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Lighting Artist or similar role in the development of AA+ console/PC games;

  • Experience working in real-time PBR lighting workflows using a combination of baked and real-time lighting models;

  • Ability to find creative solutions to lighting problems at more complex levels;

  • Great understanding of performance and cost of lighting;

  • Strong artistic skill set, a good sense of light, colors, and materials.


Nice to have:

  • Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 and/or 5;

  • An interest in a variety of different game genres.


Interview process:

  1. 30-minute introductory video call with a member of our Talent Acquisition team

  2. 60-minute video interview with our Art Producer and Senior Environment Artist;

  3. 60-minute video interview with our Studio Art Director and the project’s Producer.
