Position Summary

Specialists will be required to act as Project Leads as assigned by management. In addition, Specialists will be charged with overseeing and facilitating training in their specialty for Technicians, and others as assigned.

Essential Duties/Functions:

  • Oversees the completion of foam elements, and pieces pertaining to project within the fabrication shop.
  • Delegate tasks as needed to techs while providing supervision.
  • Maintain a running list of needed supplies, foam, glues etc for purchasing.
  • Manage project deadlines and effectively communicate those deadlines to fabrication shop staff and management.
  • Assists managers to provide workflow and timely delivery of product for all projects
  • Prioritize and evaluate work flow for maximum efficiency and consistent work flow.
  • Maintain Animax standards and Quality Control throughout the fabrication shop.
  • Ensure the documentation of techniques, directions and materials lists needed for projects are complete by deadlines
  • Work with fabrication Shop Management to manage shop supplies, stock items, tools and materials.
  • Builds product alongside fabrication team
  • Be involved in the postmortem of the project with regard to practices and processes.
  • Maintains a safe, healthy and clean work /shop environment.
  • Seek out and continue education in specialty as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience

  • Minimum 5 years professional foam fabrication experience
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a similar position required
  • Master’s Degree preferred


Knowledge, Skills And Ability

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and the ability to implement them.
  • Ability to work with and around chemicals such as barge, epoxies, super glue, etc.
  • Experience and knowledge with cable control mechanisms such as used in puppets and character costumes
  • Basic knowledge in animatronics
  • Excellence in accurately cutting a variety of foams with razor blades in multiple angles.
  • Assemble a variety of foam to build three dimensional structures based on approved product shapes.
  • Have basic knowledge and skill in finishing
  • Complete tasks at a consistent artistic integrity established by Animax’s quality assurance personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a stressful work environment
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work on ladders and at heights on a scissor or boom lift [training provided]
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites.


Physical Demands:

Intermittently sitting, standing, and stooping. Requires repeated reaching by extending hand(s) and/or arm(s) in any direction. Moderate lifting or carrying 26 – 50 lbs. Using equipment requiring high dexterity. Requires good near or distant vision. Requires distinguishing colors and/or depth perception to judge distances.

Work Environment:

High noise environment. High dust, dirt, grease environment. Requires safety training and/or protective devices. Regular exposure to moving machinery and/or vehicles. Regular exposure to chemicals, solvents.
