Job Description
As a Field Application Engineer, you will provide application and design support to automotive customers in South India, based out of Bangalore. Your responsibilities include:
- Providing technical support for Power Integrations products used in automotive applications.
- Visiting customers independently or with the sales team to address technical inquiries and requirements.
- Driving design-in activities of PI Automotive products in suitable applications.
- Actively managing projects with Sales and Marketing departments to achieve design-in targets.
- Testing and analyzing competitive solutions to define PI's value proposition and secure design wins.
- Supporting customer projects in collaboration with US and European Field Application Engineers.
- Contributing design ideas and reports to the FAE database.
- Coordinating with Sales and setting priorities for design wins and revenue growth.
- Reviewing progress of designs on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
- Supporting distribution partners during FAE trainings and customer seminars.
Must have:
- Strong SMPS knowledge
- Experience in AC/DC and DC/DC SMPS design
- Knowledge of Automotive applications
- Good knowledge of national and international standards
- Experience in designing magnetic components
- Debugging skills
- Knowledge of design/simulation tools
- Strong communication skills
- Presentation skills
Good to have:
- Knowledge of battery charger and motor drive inverter
- BOM level analysis skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers, distributors, and colleagues
- Contribution to sales strategies

Field Application Engineer - Automotive, India South
Job location: Bangalore
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Field Application Engineer will be responsible for Application support in South India territory and will be based out of Bangalore.
In this position you will -
- Provide application and design support based on end application in terms of paper designs / building and testing of boards using Power Integrations’ products to Automotive customers
- Regularly visiting Automotive customers independently or with the assigned Sales in charge
- Provide PI direct support to Key customers defined by Field sales
- Independent handling of accounts for technical support
- Update customer with latest production information and support customer with demo boards along with engineering report
- Drive the design-in activities of PI Automotive products in suitable applications
- Actively manage projects together with the Sales and Marketing departments to achieve design-in targets
- Test and analyze competition solution and help sales define PI value and WIN designs
- Support customer projects in close co-operation with US Application and Europe Feld Application Engineer
- Contribute design ideas with engineering report for FAE date base
- Co-ordinate with sales and set priorities for design WIN and fast revenue growth
- Review weekly or bi-weekly progress of design
- Establishes design WIN objectives by creating a plan in support of regional objectives
- Support our distribution partners during FAE trainings or end customer seminars
- Conduct periodical training to distributor FAE team, workshops / seminars ( In-house & Public )
- Travel required 25-33%.
Requirements:
- Should have strong fundamental SMPS knowledge and its various topologies
- Strong Knowledge and experience in AC/DC and DC/DC SMPS design, testing and analysis
- Knowledge of Automotive application such as battery charger and motor drive inverter will be added advantage
- Good knowledge of national and international standards (e.g. IPC, IEC, AECQ100, ISO26262 etc.) is an advantage
- Should possess knowledge in designing magnetic components including transformers, Common Mode chokes / Inductors etc.
- Able to debug designs and recommend changes
- Strong knowledge on design / simulation tools
- Able to do accurate BOM level analysis
- Able to build good working relationships with customer, distributors team and colleagues
- Contribute effectively to Sales strategies
- Strong communication skill, both verbal and in writing a must
- Presentation Skill essential
Qualification and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in design and development of SMPS
- Bachelor Degree in Electronic with 2 years of experience or Master's fresh graduate in Electronic
