As a Finance Assistant at dentsu Aotearoa, you'll join a high-performing team and a global community of over 60,000 people across over 145 countries. The role involves supporting the dentsu Media and Finance team in the smooth running of the Accounts Payable (AP) function, processing media supplier invoices, and assisting with cash receipts. Responsibilities include managing the monthly billing cycle, resolving billing issues, monitoring outstanding debtor balances, allocating cash receipts, maintaining client master data, providing month-end support, and assisting with ad-hoc requests. The role requires excellent customer service, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Must have:
  • Accounting Grad or up to 12 months experience.

What your role and typical day might look like The purpose of this role is to support our dentsu Media and Finance team in the smooth running of our AP function, processing media supplier invoices for payment and assisting with cash receipts. This role requires a high level of customer service, a sharp eye for detail, fluent written and spoken communication skills and the ability to navigate a complex business. It is imperative to be able to maintain performance and meet deadlines as a part of this role to keep our suppliers happy as our partners.   Responsibilities could include:
  • Manage monthly billing cycle including timely & accurate billing following business & client requirements 
  • Actively support business team to resolve billing issues and queries timely and accurately
  • Address and resolve billing inquiries from clients in a timely and professional manner
  • Monitor outstanding debtor balance and manage overdue debtors
  • Allocate cash receipts timely and accurately
  • Maintain client master data following internal control process and compliance requirements
  • Provide month end support, including journals, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Assist management accountants with ad-hoc request such as external & internal audit and other group requests
  • Bring a focus of continuous improvement to deliver operating efficiencies, finance projects and transformation initiatives.
A bit about you:
  • A new or recent Accounting Grad (or someone with up to 12 months experience in an AP/AR role). Any experience with month end reporting cycles would be beneficial.
  • Any experience working in a complex, fast-paced environment; bonus points if that’s within the Media/Advertising Agency industry but certainly not mandatory.
  • Highly organised, proactive and efficient, able to manage competing deadlines for multiple stakeholders.
  • Processes driven with an appreciation for standard best practices, and able to identify opportunities for efficiencies and automation where possible.
  • Analytical and detail orientated. Able to synthesises information using a rational and systematic approach.
  • Open, honest communicator and team player, contributing to our supportive culture and supporting the development of all team members around you.
