Fire Sprinkler Engineer

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Fire Sprinkler Engineer for Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. The Gigafactory design team drives to create the factory of the future by overseeing the design of cutting-edge large-scale equipment and utility systems to support highly innovating manufacturing processes.

• Design and Layout: Create and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
• Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure system efficiency and compliance, in line with the statutory requirements (i.e. most critical installations), validation of sprinkler design provided by external suppliers
• Ensuring the system meets local and national fire safety standards.
• Assess non-standard wet fire protection systems for industrial applications
• Support non-standard sprinkler systems for high fire load storage requirements AND the assessment of fire retention calculations.
• Interpret and apply NFPA / VDS standards to the design and layout of sprinkler and hydrant systems to design compliant sprinkler protection.
• Work closely with the Tesla Engineering, Construction and manufacturing team to optimize and integrate sprinkler systems with other building and production installations. 
• Oversee project timelines, ensuring designs meet delivery dates and budget constraints, good understanding of construction related needs and lead times as well checking processes.
• Support and coordinate site visits of the checking engineer for approval process for the installations.
• Conduct site visits to verify the accuracy of designs and make necessary adjustments.
• Prepare design documentation from concept to execution design, validation of shop drawings by contractors, provision of design specifications, and support of cost estimates.
• Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and quality improvements, review of standards for optimizing design and value engineering
