Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and strategic Fleet Operations Leader to oversee and guide a team of Driver Managers in a dynamic transportation environment. This role is responsible for driving fleet performance through effective leadership, operational oversight, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation, regulatory compliance, and team development, with a focus on enhancing driver engagement, safety, and efficiency. This position requires a proactive leader with excellent communication skills and a passion for operational excellence. Location: Can be located in Grand Rapids, MI, Bartow, FL, or Bryant, AR Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Driver Managers to ensure high performance and accountability.

  • Develops and coaches the driver managers and their teams, evaluating performance and initiating corrective action as required.

  • Monitor fleet performance metrics such as on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, safety compliance, and driver retention.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve driver engagement and reduce turnover.

  • Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, internal policies, and safety standards.

  • Collaborate cross functionally with dispatch, maintenance, safety, and HR teams to resolve operational challenges.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and training for Driver Managers.

  • Enhance communication between drivers and management to foster a positive work environment.

  • Prepare and present detailed reports on fleet performance, incidents, and KPIs to senior leadership.

  • Ability to cover any Driver Manager duties and provide backup / flow to work coverage as needed.

  • Identify, lead or participate in project work as required.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications: Experience required:
  • 5+ years business experience

  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking

Education and Experience desired:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Finance, Supply Chain or a related field preferred

  • Use of ERP/TMS/Excel

  • Driver incentive programs and performance-based management

  • Career experience in transportation, distribution, regulatory compliance, cross-functional teams, fleet management

  • Lean/continuous improvement

  • Change management

  • Working knowledge private fleet operations and current industry best practices

  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures

Conduct
  • Ability to pass a drug test

  • Self-managing; works well under little supervision

  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic

  • Good interpersonal skills and good communicator

  • Strong organization skills and detail oriented

  • Be a team player and support the Company’s goals

  • Conducts in a professional manner
