Job Description

This position involves providing efficient production support to facilitate manufacturing activities, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations and company policies. Responsibilities include reporting safety concerns, assisting in the production process, and operating heavy machinery. The role also requires undertaking offsite working as needed and performing various duties within personal capabilities, training, and experience, including shot-blasting and cleaning materials. The job requires flexibility and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, involving manual handling of heavy loads.

Position Summary:

To provide an efficient and flexible production support service, which facilitates the Company’s manufacturing activities in accordance with our Customers’ requirements.

Key Accountabilities/ responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace
  • Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to
  • Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence

To ensure business activities support the maintenance of the company’s ISO (9001, 14001 and 45001) standards and certification.

  • To carry out various duties as and when required by the business. To assist the production process within each business unit (such as powertrain, industrial products, wheelsets, disassembly and assembly).
  • Undertake offsite working as and when required.
  • Perform any other duties within personal capabilities, training and experience that may be reasonably requested.
  • You will be expected to undertake on occasion shot-blasting duties and the cleaning of material using.
  • You must maintain and operate heavy equipment and machinery, from forklifts, cranes, battery Electric vehicle, etc…
  • You should be able to load and unload materials and equipment across the site. This will involve manual handling of materials.Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.

Background & Experience: 

  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Flexible attitude to work – able to change hours and responsibilities with minimal notice.
  • The ability to work to deadlines and short lead times.
  • To work as part of team
  • To be willing to learn new skills
  • To take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities
  • Ability to operate and control equipment
  • Have a good understanding of health and safety

Qualifications/Education required:

  • Previous experience in rail or automotive industry
  • Proven experience in using counterbalance, reach, pivot forklift trucks, slinging equipment, cab and pendant controlled overhead cranes
  • Have a recognised B1 and B2 forklift Licence and crane driving qualification is essential
  • B3 Forklift licence is desirable, however training will be given to successful candidate
  • Current driving license

Job Requirements

  • Normal basic working hours are 44 hours per week
  • Based at Barton, Burton Upon Trent
