We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

What you need to know about the role-
The PayPal Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team is dedicated to ensuring the reliability, availability, and scalability of PayPal's critical systems. As a Software Engineer within the PayPal SRE team, you'll focus on developing software tools and products that support and enhance the infrastructure underlying PayPal's platform. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement resilient solutions, monitor system health, and respond to incidents swiftly. We're seeking individuals with a strong software development background, proactive problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering seamless experiences to PayPal users worldwide. The Reliability and Resiliency (RRE) org is part of the larger Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization and is focused on building next gen incident management platforms including Chatops , communications, Issue intake products by leveraging Gen AI and AI technologies that would improve the reliability of the PayPal site and services.

Job Description:

Your Day to Day:

• Demonstrate a customer centric mindset as part of day-day work.

• Ensure that the design and implementation adheres to defined specs and processes.

• Own end-to-end quality of deliverables during all phases of the software development lifecycle.

• Understand technical designs by working within PayPal’s cross-functional technology team.

• Collaborate with core platform and infrastructure teams to satisfy the infrastructure needs for payments solutions.

• Collaborate between business, product and technology in the process of understanding the requirement and coming up with implementation options

• Ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment and manage continuously changing business needs

What you need to bring to the role:

• Strong frontend and backend programming skills and previous experience as a full stack engineer.

• Proficiency with fundamental front end languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

• Proficiency with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS, React and Amber.

• Experience with REST API’s, Web Services, Unit Testing and build tools.

• Proficient in back-end languages including Java, Python, Rails, Ruby, .NET, or PHP.

• Good understanding and hands on experience with databases such as MySQL/ Oracle etc.

• Rich object-oriented design and analysis skills.

• Excellent verbal communication skills.

• Good problem solving skills. Attention to detail.

• Be a quick learner undaunted by complex systems.

• Take risks and thrive in an environment of constant change.

• Contributed to building the complete life cycle of transaction processing preferably in payments domain.

• Experience in refactoring existing code base and in understanding existing implementations to decide to refactor or rewrite.

• Exposure and participation in tech events, hackathons, contributions to open source, authoring of blogs and active participation in online tech forums is a plus.
