Amazon Games is looking for a Game Designer to partner with us as we build exciting new casual games with a multiplayer component. You will help establish an entirely new category for gaming and should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that’s higher than most projects. In this role, you'll lead thinking on what kind of great games will be best for all kinds of casual game players. You will assess content, help developers design for Amazon customers, and invent new game benefits.

The opportunity to delight millions of gamers is massive, but it's also an ambiguous challenge. You will leverage your game design knowledge to help define and prioritize content for Amazon customers who play games. You'll work with world-class third-party game developers to assess and design great exclusive content. You thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and will collaborate with engineering, marketing, and other stakeholders to resolve ambiguity and balance competing priorities.

Key job responsibilities
  • Provide compelling vision and thought-leadership on games to peers and stakeholders.
  • Generalize requirements (functional and technical) gathered from a diverse set of customers, industry trends, and larger technology trends. Determines minimum viable product requirements.
  • Participate in strategy planning by developing (or helping to develop) marketing-related ideas into full concepts and prototypes.
  • Constantly stay up to date with products and services across the game industry, and also within Amazon, Twitch, and Game Studios.
  • Drive key projects worldwide with complete independence.
  • Work with developers to ensure your content and features are delivered to high quality
  • BA, technical degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience creating end-to-end game experiences from the concept stage to shipping
  • In-depth knowledge of game theory and design best practices
  • Experience building games in a wide variety of genres, for a variety of platforms, from mobile to console
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Phaser, Babylon JS or similar HTML5 development tools.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $175,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
