Job Summary
As a Gameplay Development Lead at Eleventh Hour Games, you'll provide technical guidance, contribute directly to the codebase, and design/implement game architecture and team processes for Last Epoch. Responsibilities include ensuring smooth development and deployment, supporting team growth through code/design reviews and hiring, and working collaboratively with a global remote team. You'll define development timeframes, identify risks, and champion best practices. Problem-solving and code contributions are crucial, requiring a strong understanding of game engine systems, data structures, algorithms, and (ideally) multiplayer concepts. The ideal candidate has a passion for ARPGs and proven experience shipping Unity titles.
Must Have
- 3+ years in a similar lead role
- 5+ years game dev experience
- Proficient in clean code
- Strong game engine & performance knowledge
- Shipped at least two Unity titles
Good to Have
- Multiplayer game development knowledge
- Experience across various game systems
- Passion for ARPGs

Job Description
What is your role?
As a Gameplay Development Lead for Eleventh Hour Games, you will lead from the front providing technical guidance as well as hopping into the code. You will help design and implement both the game's architecture as well as the team's processes to ensure the smooth development and deployment of new functionality for Last Epoch. Along the way, you will support and help grow the team through code & design reviews and hiring. This role is ideal for someone who craves ownership and has strong communication skills, both written and verbal as you will be working with a global remote team.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of industry experience in a similar role
- 5+ years of game development experience in a programming role
- Proficiency in writing clean, readable, and efficient code
- Strong knowledge of game engine systems and performance as well as data structures and algorithms
- Experience working on at minimum two shipped Unity titles
Pluses
- Knowledge of fundamental multiplayer concepts such as reliability, congestion, server authority, and interpolation
- Varied experience across a game's many systems
- Passion for ARPGs in particular a huge plus
Responsibilities
- Ensure basic needs are met and work is unblocked, larger issues are identified and resolved in a timely fashion, and help teammates grow as engineers
- Lead your team to define development timeframes, dependencies, and areas of risk to be considered in project planning
- Champion best practices and standards across projects
- Jump into the code. Resolve pressing issues. Help lift the project up.
