Job Description

As a Golang Tech Lead (GameOps) at Playrix, you will drive the development of Go expertise within the team and strengthen the feature ownership approach. You'll work on high-load services, create game operations tools, and develop new features. Responsibilities include leading product and technical initiatives, managing technical quality, and managing tools and technologies. This role involves migrating services to Kubernetes, leading the integration of large-scale cross-game projects (matchmaking, player profiles, GDPR-compliant data deletion), and breaking down monolithic services. You'll collaborate with game developers and infrastructure teams to ensure Playrix's games run efficiently and smoothly.

Must have:

6+ years backend development, 3+ years with Go
2+ years experience as Tech Lead
High-load project experience
Architecture design experience
Unit and integration testing

Good to have:

Python REST services (FastAPI)
AWS, Docker, Kubernetes experience

Our games have been installed 2.3 billion times (that's a third of the world's population!) and more than 30 million people around the world play them every day.

Team, about the role

At Playrix, our games serve 150+ million players monthly, requiring robust, scalable backend solutions to handle massive traffic loads. GameOps plays a key role in this, developing critical backend services that power all Playrix games—from player data management (GDPR compliance) to real-time notifications for millions of users. Without these services, operating large-scale games wouldn’t be possible.

We’re looking for a strong Tech Lead who will drive the development of Go expertise within the team and strengthen the feature ownership approach. You’ll be working on high-load services, creating game operations tools, and developing new features from scratch. Our 5 Senior backend engineers work closely with game developers and infrastructure teams to design, implement, and refine backend services that scale across all Playrix games.

This role offers the opportunity to migrate services to Kubernetes, lead the integration of three large-scale cross-game projects (matchmaking, player profile, GDPR-compliant data deletion), and break monolithic services into independent, reusable backend solutions. You’ll have a direct impact on making Playrix's games run faster, smoother, and more efficiently.

Tasks

Leading product and technical initiatives: gathering requirements, interacting with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams, developing solutions, decomposing and estimating tasks, and driving initiatives to completion
Developing service architectures in accordance with product requirements
Managing the technical quality of the product: defining strategy and vision, prioritizing tasks, and planning
Managing tools and technologies within the team

Requirements

6+ years in backend development, including 3+ years with Go (designing and developing services from scratch)
2+ years of experience in a similar role: Tech Lead/Team Lead/Engineering Manager
Experience in developing high-load projects
Experience in architecture design: creating services, describing database schemas
Ensuring high-quality code development through unit and integration testing

Preferred

Experience in developing Python REST services for over a year, with a focus on working with asynchronous frameworks, particularly FastAPI
User-level skills in working with AWS and Docker
Skills in working with orchestrators (Nomad, K8s)
Understanding of CI/CD practices (TeamCity, Jenkins)
