You are a seasoned and talented Hard Surface / Weapon Artist looking to build the next generation of games in VR. You have multiple years of experience with Maya, Zbrush and the Unity Editor (or other 3D game engines like Unreal) and love to create fun and interesting guns, grenades and gear for a live-service, online game. You have a passion for First Person Shooters and creating assets that demonstrate authenticity and realism.
Hard Surface / Gun Artist Responsibilities
Create high quality 3D models and assets (Weapons, Gear, and gadgets) in both high-poly and low-poly versions
Ensure art assets are performant and within budgets for draw calls, poly counts, and texture memory without compromising visual quality
Develop new gun ideas that fit within conceptual designs, technical parameters, and production goals, for a live-service online game
Possess the expertise, experience, and organizational skills to complete weapon models from concept to in game assets with minimal oversight and to mentor team members in similar tasks
Ability to take and quickly address feedback as well as provide feedback to others
Minimum Qualifications
6+ years work experience in game development as a hard surface/weapon artist using Maya (or 3DSMax), Photoshop, Substance Painter, Zbrush or Mudbox
Proven understanding of modern guns and realistic weapon aesthetics
Experience creating game ready, realistic weapons with a solid understanding of weapon form and function
Proven modeling, sculpting, material, and texturing skills for PBR
Experience working in a fast-paced AAA Studio production pipeline
Experience working on live service titles
Proven understanding of asset optimization challenges/techniques in a shipped product
Experience mentoring other team members
Self-motivated problem solver with the skills to work well independently
Portfolio of highly detailed 3D art with a focus on realistic guns
Proven experience with game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of experience in the games industry
2+ shipped AAA titles as a weapon/ hard surface artist
Experience with Unity
Experience learning new software tools and pipelines
Experience concepting original weapons/gadgets
Experience with Perforce and/or Git
Experience building assets for AR or VR

$126,000/year to $175,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
