Job Description

This Hardware Validation Engineer role at Google Cloud involves supporting new product engineering and development in Google’s hardware R&D labs. Responsibilities include designing and building system-level testbeds, maintaining lab infrastructure, working with teams to develop software and hardware systems, coordinating lab and engineering team interactions, resolving problems and escalating issues when necessary, and generating implementation plans. The role requires experience with Linux, networking, troubleshooting, data center servers, and debugging. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science) and 2 years of relevant experience (or 1 year with an advanced degree) are required.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field
2+ years hardware engineering experience
Linux, networking, troubleshooting expertise
Data center server debugging skills
System-level testbed design & build

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in relevant field
Data center/networking operation experience
Network design & protocol knowledge
Python or scripting language experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience working in a hardware engineering technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
Experience with Linux, networking, network troubleshooting, failure diagnosis, data center server, debugging/troubleshooting.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
Experience working within a data center or networking operation center environment.
Experience with network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
Experience with computer systems (e.g., physical, functional, logical, mechanical, electrical, software, thermal, etc.).
Experience reading and writing code in Python or other scripting language.

In this role, you will support new product engineering and development in Google’s hardware research and development labs by helping to design, build, and maintain system-level tests. You will perform work that allows product development teams to focus on development.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Help design and build system-level testbeds and maintain lab space, tools, and infrastructure.
Work with teams to develop software and hardware systems, develop methodologies and tools to support team members.
Coordinate the interactions between labs and engineering teams.
Anticipate and resolve problems by applying knowledge, escalate design, manufacturing, and product test issues to other people within the organization when needed.
Generate implementation plans and provide technical knowledge and guidance during deployment activities.
